Lego Batman: The Videogame (DS)
Advantages: Plenty to do and find
Disadvantages: Some moves can be tricky
I have played Lego games before and the first was Harry Potter Lego with a friend and it was one of those games which were fun to play because everything was done with Lego and fortunately for me this game is no different.
Most people know Batman the great super hero to help Gotham City from all the crooks and criminals and he tries to make sure he is above the law and assists them when he can. He is not normally alone and this game provides you with the company of Robin his trusty sidekick.
The game involves you taking part not only in combat but also involves you attempting to complete levels by finding missing items and collecting coins as well.
You begin inside the Bat cave the trusty hideaway for Batman and his activities and you have to take part in three chapters all containing stories. You go through the doors of the first chapter and begin the game.
You have to try and learn the controls quickly because there is a lot to learn as you go through the game. The first is the coins these are everywhere and you collect these because they can assist you later on which will be explained.
You have love hearts to assist your health when you are playing the game and you also have another part to collect and this is missing items. When you pause the game you might see a piece of Lego in a set colour you need to find hidden within the story you are playing.
These items are not meant to be found easily so you have to keep your eye out and explore any location you're not sure about just in case they are hidden in there.
The game is pretty cool because the story to each chapter has a comic book method of explaining what is going on and what you need to do and that adds a bit of coolness to the game in my view reverting back to the comic idea.
You move around the game using the control pad you have on the console and you can use either Batman or Robin swapping between the characters in order to complete the game. Both have different things they offer to the game.
Batman has the ability to fly off course and Robin can tightrope walk which might sound pathetic but in the long run this is vital to know.
You get to see enemies approaching and your mission is to take them out but this is not always that easy you need accuracy with your fighting skills to make sure they don't end up killing you instead.
The game has Lego everywhere and your character has to sometimes smash items up in order to find ways of advancing further. You might need to smash a box which underneath has not only coins but a way to advance further.
You have to piece together various Lego pieces to make new items to use or perhaps create walkways to make you advance.
The game is done in a Lego themed way with buildings and enemies and even the focal point characters all done with Lego faces which make the entire game very fun.
The graphics on the game are alright they are never going to be superb due to the console this game is on but otherwise they are pretty good. The images of characters are good and the way you can see new suits appearing throughout the game is very realistic.
At times the graphics can go missing in some scenes but overall they are very good. When it comes to the game play I have issues with some things such as flying you are told on the game when you meet something new to do how to do it properly.
The game lets you then take this option on but sometimes you might not read the details correctly and end up dying which costs you coins.
Those coins help you achieve the ultimate target because each level wants you to get the coins for a reason perhaps they are used to unlock new characters, who knows.
The controls are easy to understand when you get into a rhythm and you are then able to play the game and enjoy it as much as possible. The only difficult part is trying to find the missing items.
The game is quick at some stages and slow in others and there is plenty to be done and it makes this game very appealing.
I never thought I would approve of this game because it seemed like the console had Harry Potter Lego and other versions why try to introduce more but for me it has done well.
Summary: A very good game for the Nintendo DS console
