The ancient Japanese strategy game Mahjong has been a mainstay of free games on PC packages alongside solitaire, Minesweeper and the annoying game with the rapidly growing worm. Its one of those really simple games which kills a few minutes on a lunch break but doesn't require an enormous amount of brain power. Simply match two identical icons and keep going until the board is clear of icons (named tiles). The main menu offers the option of single player or campaign mode. Both options allow you to select one of three levels of difficulty and a choice of Japanese characters, standard British numerics or bugs and leaves. You then get to choose a theme. After ... This review is for the Nintendo DS game, Mahjong Quest - Expeditions, developed by iWin and published by Activision. The game is a version of the traditional tile game. The game is simple in principle, there are hundreds of tiles on a board, and you simply have to match them up and remove all the matching sets. In this version of the game, you play through 128 different level layouts, across eight different lands. This version of the game has lots of depth, which isn't always the case with games such as this.
