Probably my all time favourite nintendo DS game, mario kart DS is a fantastic addition to a classic nintendo series.

Firstly there is the gameplay, unlike EVERY other racing game i have played on the DS, this game has excelent controls. Somehow nintendo have managed to get a game which played great using an analogue stick found on the N64 and gamecube controllers and made it wor just as well on the DS's D-pad. Because of the very responsive controls and an adjustable drift mode playing this game is smooth and enjoyable.

As usual with mariokart, there are 4 difficulty levels which you must play for, each involving 8 tournaments. In total that means there are 32 different tracks, 16 brand new and 16 found in previous mariokart versions from SNES, GBA, N64 and Gamecube. This makes the game last a long time while somehow not getting boring at all despite playing on tracks 4 times each (once for each difficulty rating)

If you have a wifi connection at home it is possible to play against a random oponent online, however while this is a cool featur it does hold the one drawback of the game - It is hard to find an oponent and when you do there are ways to cheat so you may find yourself losing to incredibly fast people.

Summary: 5 stars from me for this great game.
