Mario Kart DS was the first game released with online play using wi-fi for the DS. It really is a great game and has lots to do, which gives it a good replay value. It contains some of your old favourite tracks from previous games including the Gamecube and Nintendo 64 versions along with brand new racing tracks, full of fun.

In the single player, you can do the Grand Prix (main part of the game) in the 50cc, 100cc, 150cc and 150cc Mirror Mode game types. Once you complete all these and win gold medals in each, you complete the game. You also get ranked for each championship you do. There are 8 in total with 4 tracks in each, so a total of 32 tracks. The ranks are from *** to E. If you get all stars on every cup then you will have this number of stars shown by your name when racing online but you must have all cups to this level of stars for it to be shown (e.g all cups must be completed with a 3* rating for three stars to be shown next to your name online). There is also a battle mode and missions, which is a great addition to the game.

The online play is really fun and still popular today. You can search for rivals, continental or worldwide for other players. You then vote for a track (not all 32 are available to race upon online) and the one with the most votes wins, if not it is picked randomly from the votes. It's an excellent game full of fun with great graphics and gameplay, available for around £25 in shops everywhere.
