This game was one of the first games that I bought for the nintendo ds. At first I thought it looked like a great game, but I was disappointed with the content of the game in it's later stages.
You start off by choosing your ambition, either a model, singer or an actor, you then choose your gender and design a person. Once the game starts you are given a mobile phone so that your friends can keep in touch with you. Making friends is fairly easy, which is just as well as you will need to make friends to get a job. One example of a job to work on a ice cream cart, which involves the player, in a mini game which can get a bit repetitive after a while.
Overall I bought the game as I thought it would be similar to the sims, but was disappointed. Although you can choose the gender, hair colour and clothes of the person you want to play and you do have a home to decorate I found that interactions with other people in the city were very limited. Lastly there was not enough hours of gameplay in this game, after a few hours of playing you have finished the game and are just left to wander round the city continuing making friends, which gets very boring after a while!
****Miami nights-singles in the city****
This is one of the first games i bought for the ds-it was cheap and i thought it would be just like the sims.
At the beginning of the game you pick whether you want to be a model, singer or actor.
The game starts with you famous and living the dream but then you wake up and find you live in a dump of an apartment and are unemployed.A good thing about this game is that you can choose whether or not you want to be male or female which a lot of games do not offer. You also get to pick things such as what clothes you wear and make up.
To progress through the game your "friend" sends you messages on your mobile phone and you have to do what they say. A lot of the tasks involve money (doesn't everything) so you have to find a job.
There are several different jobs -an ice cream server. This is the first job you unlock and is the worst paid. You then get to move on to being a waitresses and after that a hot tub model which pays the best.
This game does say over 12 on it but i think people much older than that would find this game far too easy so it is not worth buying
Buy it if it is cheap or if you like the sims.
<on dooyoo and ciao>
This game sounds great. You start out choosing what you ambition is to be. You can either be a model, actor or singer and the aim of the game is to live your dream by meeting the right people, doing the right things and making the right friends.
You can choose either to be male or female (which beats other games out there where you can only be male) and you get to choose your hairstyle, hair colour, clothes and how fat / thin you want to be.
You are given a mobile phone to stay in touch with people and it is through this that your 'friend' sends you messages on what to do next i.e. your next challenge.
You go through the game making friends by talking to them, flirting with them, buying them gifts. You also need to get a job and these become available to you once you make friends with the right people.
Unfortunately the story part of the game is only short and you achieve your goal within an hour or two however the game doesn't let you know that you have completed it as it lets you carry on making friends. There doesn't seem to be any end to this so you could keep it up all day and not get anywhere.
My advice is that once you've completed the story, turn it off!
Miami Nights - Singles In The City is a game sort of like The Sims for the Nintendo DS. Sort of a life simulation / RPG.
You start of as either one of three professions (singer, actor or model). It has some interesting characters in it, which you can chat, flirt with, make friends etc. You can bond with a character really fast by interacting with them. You can talk to them, flirt with them, share a gift or "assault" them. But you are basically babysat through with very linear gameplay as your neighbour tells you what to do, and even reminds you to shower!
The story sort of involves and implies you sleeping your way to the top, but to start off with you have to do things such as wash dishes, which is a minigame. There are quite a few mini games, of various difficulty levels which are OK, sort of fun but only for a short amount of time.
The graphics in Miami Nights - Singles In The City is OK and there could definately be improvements in the scope of the DS, but it's colourful and decent when it's not characters doing animations. The framerate is good and smooth too.
Fans of the Sims series could maybe enjoy this, it's quite fun but it's quite short (like only lasts a few hours!) and nothing special to be honest.
