My five year old daughter and six year old son saw this game advertised and the thought of being Secret Agents had them begging Father Christmas for this one!
The game: You can name your town where you are going to work and choose your identity and your look. You get an assistant to name who will help you during the game when you need it.
The main objective is to find and apprehend thief V who is threatening to abscond with the town's secret treasure - a treasure so secret that no one knows where the treasure is let alone what it is!
You have to explore your neighbourhood, help the townspeople and also customise your house and beautify the town. As you go through the various stages of your mission you unlock mini games to play in order to earn money and get medals. You can also design items, clothing and even design your own mini game!
There is lots of variety in this game but it is at times rather tricky to complete some stages of the mission for a child and as an adult, I sometimes struggled initially so this is not a game your child can just get on with by themselves. Also there is a lot of interaction between the townspeople and the agent which means there is a lot of reading to do and so I think this game is more suitable for 7 years and up.
Since doing my original review my children have finished the entire game but both have started it from the beginning several times again. They have found out more things to do second time around and love collecting all the different furniture and decorating their rooms differently each time they play. This is defintely working out to be good value for money for them and second time around us adults have not had to be involved in helping them quite so much! I have upped my rating from 3 stars to 4 as a result.
'MySims Agents' is yet another title in the MySims series of games.
It is an action game where you are a secret agent trying to find the notorious villain who has promised to steal the town's historical treasure. That is the main assignment but, while you are in town, you have to help the townspeople and try to make them happy while uncovering the secrets of the mystery. Talking to townspeople will unlock mini-games that you can play to earn 'money' and trophies.
The storyline is slightly like other games but it is original nonetheless. What's good about this is the customizable characters and homes. In this game you can change your character's and your assistant's clothes to suit you.
At the start, you have to name your character, decide on it's gender and choose an eye style, eye colour, hair style and hair colour. You can edit the hair colour and style later in the game but not the eye style and colour or your name and gender.
There are 10 mini-games, ranging in difficulty, for you to unlock. If you get a good score and a good medal, you can then unlock a higher difficulty rating for you to try. Each mini-game is original and different in each MySims game.
Parts of the game I found difficult to work out but by using my brain, I soon figured it out! Some assignments are a bit tedious and long-winded and don't really explain what you have to do but after you have played it a few times, you soon understand!
I like how they have added television channels to this game. Instead of just turning on the TV and there being a small image and some strange music, there are programmes on daily. There is a teleshopping channel where you can phone in to purchase a product and a quiz which can win you 'money'. The more quiz questions you get correct, the more 'money' you earn!
Overall I think MySims Agents is a fun game to play. If you have enjoyed other MySims games I would recommend you buy this to add to your collection! Keeps you occupied for hours with varying difficulty!
Despite the age recommendation (3+) on the box, I would say 'MySims Agents' is most suited to age 7 and up.
