What a mighty return for those cheeky plumbing brothers!

Thank goodness Nintendo had released this game early in the DS's history, otherwise I would have got ride of my console for a PSP. And thank goodness it's not just a copy of the original games released for the Gameboy advance, but a vast improvement, encompassing everything great about the previous 2D installments. This, boy's and girls, is THE Mario, as colourful and bashful as it's ever been but taken to the next level. Forget all those ridiculous 3D efforts, this was always meant for 2D!

This is the perfect game for those wishing to relive the original Marios while enjoying far superior graphics and gameplay. A stunning graphics engine, classic soundtrack and moderate difficulty all combine to make an essential purchase.

As Super Mario Bros approaches it grand age of 3 on the DS, there are no platform games since that have been able to raise the bar higher. It's dissapointing that this is the case, and one would hope that in the past 3 years they would have been able to release a second Mario game. However the strong prices for this game show it's still a popular buy, so dip into your savings and make your life that little bit happier. "Mamma-mia!"
