... the stylus. And the good bit... this control method isn't flimsy, or gimmicky, or anything of the sort, in fact it's really responsive and a hell of a lot of fun to play. Within 10 minutes of starting up you'll find yourself skillfully slashing your stylus across the screen as if it were your own Katana, slicing and dicing your enemies and the impressive 3D bosses with skill and precision. At least it feels this way, in reality the game is pretty easy, but it feels good to play and does a very good job of maki...more

Premium Review Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword (DS): What's a gaiden? (403 words)
by - written on 27/01/09 (Very useful, 63 readings)
Rating:

I have never played a Ninja Gaiden game before, however I have heard from reliable sources that they are typically fairly hardcore button-mashing hack'n'slash games. As such I was surprised when I got hold of 'Dragon Sword' on the DS, more out of curiosity than anything else. The first surprise was that I had to turn my DS sideways, like a book. An approach seen in games such as Brain Training and adventure game Hotel Dusk, I was immediately off-guard as I was anticipating fast button-mashing action. How could this work? I can't even reach the buttons! Alas... nearly ever action in Dragon Sword is performed with the stylus. And the good bit... this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword - Best Hack and Slash game on the ... (548 words)

Introduction: ~~~~~~~~~~ I accidently came across the Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword after many hours of trying to find a decent Hack and slash NDS game. This is THE best Hack and Slash game out for the NDS. Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword provides plenty of satisfying slashing with the DS pen. When casting a Special Attack there is a Letter which you have to draw, to cast the attack, which make this ...  Read the complete review

by - written on 12/09/08 (Very useful, 63 readings)
Rating:

Ninja Gaiden has a long and storied history -- much of it involves punishing combat and infuriatingly difficult boss fights. I've missed out on all that, however, and instead the DS iteration of the Ninja Gaiden franchise, subtitles Dragon Sword, is my introduction to the series. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but having beaten the game and seen all that this awesome game has to offer, I'm now on the hunt for ways to play more Ninja Gaiden. The premise of the game is quite simple: you play as legendary ninja Ryu Hayabusa (and occasionally Momiji, a female ninja of the same clan). Dragon Sword occurs sometime shortly after the Dark Dragon Sword Incident ...  Read the complete review
