Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (DS)

It was whilst I was on a day out with a friend recently that I stumbled across a local market, which had a few stalls selling second-hand goods. One such stall had a variety of Nintendo DS games for sale, ranging in price from £2 to £5. As I generally pay around £20 for a DS game, I realised immediately that this was fantastic value, and looked at the selection of games to see what was on offer. I'm not sure whether I love or hate the fact that I'm about to be POSITIVE about a movie tie-in game. I have to say I had LOW expectations for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on the DS - the versions I've played on other consoles were less than satisfactory, for the most part. This game is a pure beat em up, through and through. Progression is completely linear, pasting baddies left right and centre until you've completed the game. This game has complex controls which can take time to master and remember all the combinations, however it does pay off to be able to remember them as you proceed faster. You are able to play different roles as you progress through the levels. It can be a little repetitive at times, as there is a lot of swordplay involved, and occasionally it would have been nice to have a different angle. It is an exciting game to play as there are lots of twists and turns and your enemies do pop up unexpectedly.The graphics are quite good, and the story follows (almost!) the story in the film.
