Advantages: It's really good and there's a lot of nice challenges.
Disadvantages: I don't know.
Since it was out about a week ago, I would have thought that someone on here would have reviewed it by now. Well never mind, here's my review for the game. Black 2 is set two years after Pokemon Black and it's counterpart White also has a sequel called White 2. Plot-wise, they are both the same game, but pokemon games always have those version exclusives that you won't see in it's counterpart games. The pokemon franchise has been around for over 2 decades and I have a feeling that this game has breathed some new life to it, like the other generations did before.
Nintendo and Game Freak always seem to outdo themselves when it comes to Pokemon games. Each generation of games seem to be better then the next, but at the same time I get so nostalgically clingy towards the old generations that it makes it really hard to me to chose a favourite game and generation. I think a lot of people where surprised that this was going to be for the DS. I think because at the time the game was announced was when the 3DS was out, so I guess many people assumed they would be on the DS.
There's a lot of little trivial additions they've added on this game which made a really big impact such as grass animations and having a pokemon centre in the first town you're in. A lot of these stuff make it a lot more easier for beginners and also cool for some of the older fans. Although you'll always get those fans that won't accept anything past the gameboy generation.
Black 2 is set in the Unova region and the player begins in Aspertia City. The objective is similar to the other pokemon games: defeat the gym leaders, elite four and the champion. Completing the pokedex is pretty much optional nowadays since they dropped their famous "Gotta Catch 'em all" slogon. I really like the changes in Unova because it adds more excitement and makes Unova a lot more interesting. You also get to know a lot more about Unova in Black 2 then you do in Black. They carry the same mechanics, but the gym leaders have had a bit of a shake up.
One of my favourite new features about Black 2 is the World Tournament that enables you to unlock battles with gym leaders and champions from the previous games. This is a really great and challenging feature, but it's also really fun and enjoyable because it feels really epic. It's a good opportunity to rebattle your favourite gym leaders. Another thing I like about the World Tournament is that it's usually always random. You never know who you're going to face, so I also had to think about which team I had to use.
It still maintains great wi-fi features like trading, battling, Global Trade Station and the dream world. They've really outdone themselves by trying to make it as interactive and as multi-player friendly as possible.
The starters on black 2 are the same in black; Snivy, Oshawott and Tepig. A lot of people I know always seem to go with oshawott. I think a lot of people love the water type starters and that there's also a lot of neglect on the fire type starters because they're overshadowed by Charizard. I picked Snivy in Black, so I decided to go and do something different and go with Oshawott. Perhaps when I get White 2 or White, I will go with Tepig.
Overall Black 2 is a worthy sequel to Black. It continues the tradition and legacy of the pokemon games and did a good job on all accounts. I haven't got that far yet, but I do plan on playing this in Challenge Mode when I get the time. I will edit this review in due time.
Summary: Really good game.
