Advantages: Fun, lots of replay value, new Pokemon!
Disadvantages: Similar to older games
Pokémon Diamond is part of the famous Pokémon series which has been very successful and included those trading cards everyone used to collect, a rubbish TV show, movies and video games. I have only ever collected the cards for a while and played a couple of the games but I really like this game!
Pokémon Diamond is almost identical to Pokémon Pearl apart from that certain Pokémon are only available on one or the other. These are the first Pokémon games on the Nintendo DS. Pokémon games are role playing games. (RPGS)
In Pokémon Diamond you start in a whole new region called Sinnoh and begin your journey as a Pokémon trainer once you choose your starter Pokémon. After this you explore the land of Pokémon and go about getting gym badges and eventually beat the league.
Trying to see and catch every Pokémon is another important thing to do and in Diamond and Pearl there are over 100 new Pokémon to get bringing the total to over 500 to catch! New features also include real time features like it turns dark at night and you can only catch a certain Pokémon at night time or only on Tuesdays which means you will have to be playing even more! (Unless you change the DS clock!) There are also Pokémon contests to win and many other things to do and the replay value of the game is amazing with their always being something to do!
The game is similar to all previous Pokémon games so it will feel a little repetitive if you are a massive fan of the series but it is also quite good as it just expands on all the previous games so far and newer games will continue to!
The battles are the same as before where you take it in turns to do moves and each Pokémon can learn four moves. There are now animations that go with the moves (which I can't remember from before but they are not particularly great anyway!)
You can also play over Wi-Fi with your friends and battle or you can trade your Pokemon when you want a new one which makes the experience even better! For the first time you can also go Underground where you make a den, dig for spheres, find fossils and other treasures , can steal your friends flags and much more fun things.
Overall, Pokémon Diamond is a great game and has tonnes of replay value because there is so much to do - whether beating the League, exploring Sinnoh, catching all the Pokémon, doing contests or battling with your friends. The game is similar to older games though and just adds some minor new additions and lots of new Pokémon! I really like this game and recommend that you try it if you have a DS!
4/5 An excellent game but very similar to older Pokémon games!
You can buy this game for Ł24.99 from Play.com at the moment which is a good price for the amount of replay value you get from this game!
