Advantages: updated graphics, new pokemon

Disadvantages: gets samey if you played ALL the others

Pokemon Platinum is the 3rd in the series of Generation 4 pokemon games. It's also the first one that you can catch every single pokemon to date on. Although you do still need access to Fire Red, Leaf Green and Emerald briefly.
The game itself is similar to previous versions, and just as fun and addictive.
It's very easy to pick up and play for beginners, but people familiar with the series can get 100 hours plus from this easily.
The split screen works and it's also nice to use the DS pen for the battles.
I personally have enjoyed this title as much as the previous ones...as there are enough new interesing pokemon to make it worthwhile. Which, at the end of the day is the main reason toi play this game. To evolve and raise a wide variety of creatures to fight for you. To me, that's why i love the pokemon games as a nice handheld breakaway from your everyday console and pc RPG's. Personally i've put in almost 70 hours this month playing it at work (lucky me i know) and i'm not bored yet. Infact it inspired to buy a copy of FireRed which i never played.
End of the day, it's worth trying...buy it used if you are not sure and then if it's not for you, sell it on for the same price.

Summary: Overall, it's a really good RPG
