There are two sections to this game as the title suggests rhythm and notes. When practising the rhythm the character on screen places a rhythm on a drum and you have to copy it. The note section begins with chords and then progresses to notes.
After you have inputted your name you progress to choose the notes section or the rhythm section.
The notes section begins with chords, you have to identify which chord is being played by listening to it. You do this using the stylus and touching which of the 3 options you think it is. You must get 100% to move on. I am unable to comment on the notes section as I was unable to get passed the chord section to this.
During the rhythm section, Camilla, the character plays a rhythm. You then have to copy it by either tapping on the instrument or using the L or R buttons. Again you have to get 100% to move on.
The game uses the stylus to choose the correct options in the chord section and uses it again to tap the instrument to play the rhythm. Alternatively the L or R buttons can be used to play the rhythem.
This game is very hard, I could not pass the chord section to get to the notes section. I can also not get past the third rhythm.
Overall I was very disappointed with this game. I have a basic knowledge of music and as I am becoming a teacher I thought this game would improve my knowledge. I was wrong. The chord section was ridiculously hard, I knew nothing about chords so was unable to pass the first activity. It would surely have made sense for them to have put the note activities first so you could learn the notes before moving onto identifying chords by ear!
The rhythm section was not much better the rhythms began fairly easy but then got hard very quickly. After about 5 minutes I could not get any further.
The graphics on the game are also poor. They are in pastel colours and are not very detailed.
I did not enjoy this game and therefore would not recommend. It is definitely not suitable for children unless they have a substantial amount of musical knowledge. I think possibly if you are really good at music then it might be suitable but as it's the same activities over and over you may get bored.
As this is an American game it's available on Amazon.com not co.uk. It is currently priced at $19.99. I would definitely not pay this much for it. It's just not worth it.
