Advantages: Endless gameplay
Disadvantages: Can be annoying for family members
I purchased Rhythm Paradise (also known as Rhythm Heaven) for the Nintendo DS after seeing the advert with Beyonce playing it and thought it looked like the kind of game that I would enjoy.
Nintendo have a clever advertising campaign for the Nintendo DS that feature celebrities such as Ronan Keating, Patrick Stewart, Julie Walters, Ant & Dec, Girls Aloud and even the Redknapp's for the Nintendo Wii. I think this in itself makes it appealing to future customers.
~ The Packaging ~
The artwork on the box does not really tell you much about the game and probably would not stand out on a shelf against other DS games. The graphics are quite basic but the colours are bright and inviting. It states that it is for ages 3+ but I would imagine that this would be a little difficult for young children to play.
~ The Game ~
The main character of the game is a little stick man who features throughout.
The game features around 50 little mini games that each have their own different rhythms with fun repetitive music that will have you humming along. You play with the DS held on it's side like a book and the game makes use of the touch screen and the DS stylus.
Each game starts with a warm up session that teaches you how to play the game. All you have to do is tap the stylus to the touch screen and occasionally requires you to slidie and flick the stylus along with the beat of the music.
After each set of mini games there is an overall game that incorporates the previous games which can be quite difficult as there is no practice but is very entertaining.
If you fail to complete a game after three tries you are able to skip it and carry on with the next game. If this was not available you would get fed up with the game very quickly.
My favourite game is where you have to flip the dumplings from the man's hand into his mouth and will have you in fits of laughter!
~ My Opinion ~
Overall this is a superb game for the DS and is good training for hand eye co-ordination. The gameplay is endless as you can always go back and try to get a better score on the first games. This game is definately worth the price tag that Amazon are selling it for - a little under £15.
5 out of 5 for this super addictive game.
Summary: Rhythm Paradise offers endless fun gameplay for all the family.
