For me and many others this was one of the most anticipated games for nintendo DS in 2008. After reading the previews on IGN.com i deacided to buy it as soon as it came out.
The thing which really sets this game apart from the crowd is the completely unique control scheme. There are already a few 'Tony Hawks' skating games on the DS but they're all merely bad versions of the console games, using the D-pad and ABXY buttons to pull off tricks.
On this game the control scheme is totally different. On the top screen you see your skater in a 3rd person view, like all skating games, while on the bottom screen is a picture of a skateboard deck. You steer with either the D-pad or ABXY buttons while using the stylus to draw lines on the deck. Different lines your player do different tricks and while it may not sound great, these controls work very well.
Because this control sceme is so new it can take a while to get used to, meaning it geniunly takes SKILL to play the game, it's great!
Theres no real story line, but the single player 'story' mode works well by putting you in tonnes of different maps all based on real skate spot from all over the world. Each map has about 5 challenges from trick competitions to death races!
