I have played the first spellbound and to be honest it was not fantastic so I rented out this game because why waste good money on a product you have not certainty will produce a good result.
Spellbound 2 is about you improving your overall skills in regards to the English language however the words are usually American based. The idea is to win tournaments or in there case trophies.
You are meant to be taking part in random situations such as spelling and looking at certain words like adjectives and nouns and you have to try and get the correct amount needed for each round and if you do you continue your progression.
After you have completed 10 rounds you win a trophy and then you advance to the next trophy where the challenges become slightly harder and much more is needed in order to complete them.
You begin usually every single round with a spelling bee and to be honest it is quite easy to do because if you fail the same words are given to you to spell again so in theory you cannot really fail in this game so that seems a pointless task in my view.
You then have other games like the adjectives and nouns and they are tough when you get into them. You get told sometimes an example of what the words are so an adjective might be a describing word and you have mixed amount of words show up and you need to pick the adjective out of them.
These can be difficult because the words get longer as you advance through the trophies and can become even more difficult when you have no idea what the word means so that can be tough.
You have other tasks such as a hangman situation where you are given a phrase and you need to find a word which means the same as the phrase. The words can be anything and nothing is really given to assist you. Five wrong letters usually results in failure.
As well as all this you have also got to put up with the fact that when you fail you have to begin all over again and every 10 rounds you play for a trophy 3 of those are spelling contests.
I think the game can work if given time because it will increase your vocabulary and it has with me for some words and it can work if you are willing to have patience and learn. Sadly for me after 7 trophies I cannot get any further due to my silly problems with nouns and not being able to work which is which.
I think they should have done the game in age groups perhaps by putting a small age group at the front and if you complete that age range you advance rather then trophies. The graphics are the game are nothing really just words being written down and you also have game play which is very quick which I like.
You do have sound but usually it is the annoying man who is taking the show on and he sort of helps you take part in the trophies you want to win but he is annoying more than helpful. For about £13 this is a good game to play but it is up to you if you think it will work in my view it is much better then the first Spellbound game.
