This is a delightful little game, simple but strangely addictive, with relaxing music and unique sound effects. The graphics are bright and colorful, and the characters are cute and quirky. I like how you can run shops with your Tamagotchi partner. At the beginning of the game, you can choose one of three Tamagotchis. Unfortunately you cannot change your partner later on.
The objective of the game is to work in shops to make money and please customers. You have to be fast, for the customers are quite impatient. You can upgrade the shops when you serve lots of customers, making more options available in the shop. Obviously you have to serve many customers in order to upgrade your shop, so it can get a bit repetitive, but there are other shops to unlock and so you can keep switching to add more variety. There are eleven different shops to unlock, such as a dentist, bakery, or flower shop. Anyone is bound to find a favorite shop. The gameplay is simple and relies entirely on the stylus. The game's shops are unusual, to say the least. What other game allows you to drill the teeth of cute little aliens?
A fun little feature is the "care mode". You can use the money you earned from working in shops to buy food and furniture for your character. Upgrading shops unlocks more food, clothes, and furniture. It's fun to customize the character's room and dress him up. You can change the music in his room, as well. When you tap him, he will say things in a speech bubble, but it seems he doesn't like to be touched.
This game lacks a story, but the sequels have great storylines so you should check them out as well. This is not a game to try if you want an action-packed challenge, but it's a good game for anyone who can enjoy cuteness and simplicity.
