Advantages: Addictive, fun, easy controls, lots to do, cheap at Ł14.99

Disadvantages: Boring to start with, can eat up all my time when I get hooked

I have always been a huge fan of the Sims games but they eat up so much of my time when I received Sims 2 castaway for Christmas I didn't know whether to be happy or not.

I have had this game two days now and I am not sure how long this game will keep me busy for though as I have completed 7 % and only really played it for a couple of hours. I am hoping that once you have completed it there is still plenty to do just living as a sim.

The Sims is a game which involves creating a person you can choose there sex, clothes, skin colour, shoes, hat etc. I do not enjoy that bit but my 6-year-old daughter loves designing people.

Once your person is ready to go you, get a brief story about being deserted on the island. You are then free to explore the island and find things, which you can use later on. Once you have found some branches and leaves you can construct a shelter. Then you can wash in the sea, hunt for food, and collect more things. After a few minutes, I discovered another person and after getting them some things from around the island, she then offered items for trade, which meant finding more items.

You can get food for the sim by collecting bugs from under rocks and using a spear to stab fish in the sea. Different areas of the island have different fish and bugs.

There are bars on the top screen, which shows the levels like social, comfort, hygiene, bladder, energy and bladder and hunger. Part of the aim of the games is to keep these bars green. The sim needs to eat to prevent her getting hunger. To keep her levels of comfort up she need to sleep, or eat, or bath. Her hygiene can be improved by letting her wash on the sea. Bladder will improve if you find a bush for them to wee (and the other) in. The sim needs to chat to people to keep her social levels green.

So you are busy keeping the levels all as green as possible but you also have to find time to look for things around the island and travel from one end to the other to see people etc as well as catching fish, bugs, making clothes, etc. It gets very busy once you get going and very addictive.

I love the mini games like catching fish, catching bugs, lighting the fire etc. It is hard to keep all the levels up high and completing the challenges.

I am really enjoying this game and I can see myself being very hooked once I get a bit further. The problem with the Sims is that it takes a while to get going and find out what you need to do and how to do it. To start with, the game can be very boring.

Overall, I would recommend this game. It can be bought from Amazon for Ł14.99. For that price, I think this game is good. This game is rated as suitable for children over 12 years old I have no idea why yet but I might find out if I keep playing.

I know a lot of people don't enjoy sim games as it is to close to real life finding a job etc but this sims game is different as you are on an island in the sun so you can escape from life a bit more.

Summary: Come fishing and catching bugs with me in the Sims
