The Sims 2 (DS)
Advantages: Some fun tasks, keeps you occupied
Disadvantages: Poor graphics, poor sounds, too structured, limited
I love The Sims, The Sims 2 and can't wait for The Sims 3 (which comes out on 20th February), however this game really does belong on the PC. It's just not the same on any other console as I found out whilst playing The Sims 2 on my DS.
The Sims 2 on the DS is very limited, even the fun part of creating characters is lost with about four hairstyles and very little clothing, OK so this isn't the most important feature of the game but still, it's not the same.
This game starts with a little video, in which we see a car breakdown in the middle of nowhere, this is the character you've created. There's only one hotel in town and so with no money and a broken car, you get hired at the hotel where you must earn money so you can leave. The tasks your given are quite simple and easy, there's also mini games which are fun but nothing special. There's a casino on site where you can earn a lot of money playing cards and other games.
You must also keep the guests happy, the guest in the penthouse is usually a mysterious figure and hardest to please, you often get given tasks from them which must be done to keep them happy. The more money you earn the more you can add to the hotel such as new rooms and then you can kill the evil robots and aliens (see how odd this game is). This game follows as story and unlike the PC games, has a beginning and an end which some prefer but I personally don't.
On a technical point, the graphics are poor, very poor and some things are hard to make out. The sounds not perfect either and the Sims all seem to have the same voices but since I usually play with the volume down, this doesn't cause a problem for me.
This game is quite cheap now and you can buy it for between £15-£25, Amazon and Game are places I would recommend and always buy online if you can as this knocks a few pounds of the price too.
Overall, not a bad game and perhaps one for the older kids to teens but for real Sim fans, stick to the PC.
Summary: Invest in different DS games!
