Advantages: loads of missions to complete, mini games are fun to play
Disadvantages: keeping your Sim happy can be annoying when you want to get a mission done
I had played a few other Sims games but this is the first I have played for the DS and I am quite impressed with it.
First of all you create your Sim by choosing their gender, the look of their face, their skin colour, hair colour, hair style and their clothing. You also give them a name and then you answer a few questions which will help decide which rep group you will work to be part of, the Streeties, the Nerdies, the Artsies or the Richies.
After you have done this the game starts with you losing your job as a cleaner and as you try to get it back by talking to, big meany, Daddy Bigbucks you get arrested!! You then have to try and talk your way out of jail and your quest for social status begins, as you have to work a job to get an apartment.
There are various missions as you try to stop Daddy Bigbucks from taking over the city and drive him outta town and also missions in relation to your rep status.
There are various jobs you can do to make money and more job options will get unlocked along the way as you complete various missions. Depending on how well you do in your job, this is decided by playing a mini game, the more Simoleons you will gain. You can use these Simoleons to purchase items for your house, for new clothes and also for things you may need for certain missions.
Whilst trying to compete your missions and up your rep group staus you mustn't forget that your Sim needs his/her basic requirements to be met constantly in order to function. This includes eating, using the toilet, showering, sleeping etc. You will find that you will need your Sim's needs met to talk to other Sims, as if they are hungry or sleepy etc they don't wanna talk!
Part of the game is also trying to increase your skills by gaining skill points in areas such as cookery, mechanical, logic etc and the easiest way to do this is to attend classes at the university but you have to pay for these.
The aim of increasing these skill points is to help you get promoted in certain jobs, as to get promoted in each job you must get the correct skill points and also make enough money.
For your missions and to increase your status with yours and other rep groups and also to generally increase your popularity, you will need to talk to people around the city. Each Sim has a different 'personality' and will enjoy talking about different things, so its a case of trial and error, common sense and memory.
Each time you talk to a Sim about something they like your friendship level with them will go up and therefore so will your popularity (gradually!).
The games graphics are quite good for the DS but the sound and music was not so good, so I never really had the sound on!
It's really easy to play, controls are really easy to get the hang of.
What I really like about this game is making lots of money to buy the best apartment and then buy lots of cool stuff to fill it, thats quite fun.
I also really like the mini-games you have to play for each of your jobs, though a couple of them did take me a while to get used to!
I did also find myself getting quite addicted to this game and there is loads to do....loads of mission so I was playing it for quite a long time actually!!
Summary: really enjoyed this, lots of stuff to do, really easy to play...addictive!!
