Advantages: Solid platformer, interesting style

Disadvantages: Gimmicky new characters, no touch screen features

A review of this game is going to involve the inevitable comparisons the to the previous Game Boy Advance title, and I'm afraid it really doesn't rival Yoshi's Island GBA in any sort of serious way at all! Although it's a fairly solid little platformer, with cute and addictive mini-games, it just feels like the gameplay is shallow when compared to the amazingly fun and engaging GBA version. The removal of collectable items, such as extra eggs or star counters is the main flaw there.
The ability to play as different babies, each with their own special skills, is quite a novelty for the first hour or so of gameplay, but after a while the constant switching becomes boring and repetitive, and it seems like simply a gimmick. The graphics, however, are very pretty (although I wouldn't say any better than the original GBA graphics, which were fab), and the game is good for pick-up and go fun.

Summary: Pick up the GBA one. Seriously.
