Advantages: Looks beautiful

Disadvantages: No touch screen controls

The original Yoshi's Island for the SNES is revered as one of the greatest side-scrolling platformers ever made, with the compelling game play defining a genre. Now we return to the colourful wilds of Yoshi's Island in a new adventure for the DS. In this game Kamek has captured Baby Luigi, and Yoshi and his band of wee babies have to rescue him.
The game looks fantastic, with vibrant, plush, bright colours lighting up both DS screens. The best part about Yoshi's Island though is that the game as a whole is a challenge, even more so than the original. The mechanic of having to switch babies to progress through levels adds a lot of variety. If I were to think of a negative it would be that it doesn't use the touch screen, so doesn't take much advantage of the DS's unique controls, but this doesn't take away from what is a very fun game.

Summary: Fun game for people of all ages!
