Advantages: Fun game, good cute story, unlockable mini-games

Disadvantages: Game is quite easy for older players so can be completed quite quickly.

Yoshi's Island is another great adventure featuring our favourite Nintendo characters.

- Gameplay -

The story begins with baby Luigi being captured by one of Bowsers henchmen Kamek. He is captured and taken to the castle. Baby Mario, Yoshi and his friends go on a search to find Luigi. Thankfully baby Peach and baby Donkey Kong mange to escape from Magikoopa another of Bowsers minions and come together with baby Mario, Yoshi & Co. and go off to save Luigi. Along the way baby Wario and baby Bowser join the clan, but can they stay faithful to the good guys for once? Or will they lose their way and go back to their evil ways?

Each level is a fun platform which scrolls sideways as you go along. Yoshi himself has a few abilities including 'flutter' which lets him fly for a short amount of time. He can also swallow enemies and turn them into eggs, which can be fired at other enemies or used to flick switches or activate various things throughout the levels. Each baby Nintendo character also gives each of the Yoshi's new abilities to use along with their own, these include ;

Baby Mario enables Yoshi to dash and reach the super stars to turn baby mario into Super Baby Mario making him impervious to damage.
Baby Peach enables Yoshi to float and fly using her umberella to drift upwards in wind currents.
Baby Donkey Kong can swing from vines and ropes.
Baby Wario attracts metal objects with is magnet, and Baby Bowser enables Yoshi to spit out fireballs.
There are various puzzles throughout the game which you will need to switch to different baby characters to complete them.

The game makes use of the Nintendo DS's dual screen, using both screens as one tall screen, so you can see more of your surroundings.
There are 5 worlds to complete, each of which has 2 bosses to defeat, they're pretty simple once you work out their weakness.

There is lots to collect throughout the game, the usual coins and stars, and various power ups like the mushroom etc. Also you can collect keys throughout the game which unlock the mini-games which are acessable through the main menu.

- What I thought of It -

The game is so much fun, its very similar to the other games in the Mario series, simple to understand, easy to play and fun at the same time.
The graphics are simple and clean, and the colours are bright.
Each of the abilities that the characters use are easy to get the hang of, and its just an overall great platform game.
I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of the Mario series, it's great fun for all ages.

Thanks for reading :)

Summary: Great fun! :D
