Advantages: Fun if your into puzzle games
Disadvantages: Repetitive
My daughter has had this game for a couple of years now but has never really played it and always seemed to give up. One day I decided to give it a try to help her and I got hooked, I was playing continuously for about a hour. Therefore this game is definately for the older player.
Zoo keeper is a great game for those that like a puzzle style game and enjoy a challange and getting a high score. It is abit like Tetris, and very similar to Bejewelled. It contains many different cute animals in a grid. They are mainly jumbled up and you have to use the stylus to swap them for the same animal and when you have three same animals touching eachother in a line they disappear and you get points. The longer you don't match the animals gradually you will lose. The higher the level you reach the quicker the time limit for not matching the animals fast enough and you will lose. You get three lives.
The main game and mode is Zoo Keeper where the zoo keeper tells you to capture a certain amount of each animal. The first level there are seven animals to capture and you have to capture three sets of each animal. In order to capture the animals as I explained before you have to use the stylus to swap it around until the same animals are lined up in a row of at least three. One you have successfully captured three sets of each animal then you go on the next level and you capture four sets, and so on until its a higher amount of animals to capture and with each level completed the time inbetween not capturing the animals goes faster and gradually you lose once the line for the time finished. They give you some tools to help you, it is three binoculars and when you are stuck if you press one with a stylus it will show you a move to play. If there is no more available moves the grid jumbles up automatically. Sometimes you get a sqaure that flashes all the animals and if you click it, the animal chosen will all disappear and that will help you get a few sets of captures. The zoo keeper does give you 2 times to continue once you've lost so you have three lives.
The modes are locked until you unlock them when playing the Zoo keeper mode. The second mode is Tokoton 100, in this your task is to capture 100 of each animal. For each mode there is a different music.
The next mode is Quest where the Zoo keeper gives you an ability test and makes it challenging. It will begin with him asking you to capture 20 of one type of animal for example 20 lions. With this you will get 300 points but eachtime you capture a different animal other then the lion your points will go, so it is quite challenging as it is hard not to capture other animals. As the tasks go on it will get more difficult and he will tell you to capture two animals for example giraffes and pandas but to get 15 more then the other, and then next to chain 30 animals and if you get the task right you will get an increase of points and if you fail your points decreases.
The next mode shows a clock and in this mode you have 6 minutes to get as many points as possible. There is a rankng to keep track of high scores and also an option to play 2 player.
It is an addictive game that is interesting and can keep you amused for a long time. It is the kind of game that you will forget about your worries and daily stress as your brain goes totally blank as you concentrate in capturing the animals. It costs roughly £20 depending on where you buy it. It is simple to work out but I feel children under 7 find it hard to understand and also in my experience they are not really into puzzle type of games. So I personally would not gift this game to a young child. The negative side of this game is that it can get repetitive and boring after a while.
