Advantages: Fun game, very like the movie
Disadvantages: Bit hard to control
My son is Lightening McQueen mad - in fact every single Christmas present he is receiving this year is based around the Disney character, so when my mother saw this game she decided she had to get it for him.
You can get this game for many different computer consoles, but we have got the Wii so it was bought for that.
My son had never used the Wii before, but picked this up easily!!
There are a few different game modes once you get into the menus. The first is story mode. In this mode Lightening McQueen is trapped in Radiator Springs, as in the film, and has to drive around, collecting bonus points and playing different bonus games, completing tasks. This is ideal for the young player as it teaches them how to control the Wii remote and steering wheel.
The second mode is race mode. This is as it says on the tin - your character races against the others, on various tracks.
There is also Piston Cup mode where you race in the Piston Cup, which is the race Lightening McQueen was taking part in at the beginning of the film.
The game has an age rating of 3 plus and although I believe this age is right for the content of the game, it isn't really right for the level of control you need in order to get very far on the game. My husband and I find ourselves completing levels for our son late in the evening so that he can progress through the game as he does not have the level of ability required to do it himself.
However, it is a fun game, and definitely one that is perfect to get your child interested in computer games if you so desire.
Summary: Great game but needs adult help
