Dewy's Adventure is a game for the Nintendo Wii. The game is aimed at children, but is quite challenging, so would be suitable for adults as well who like arcade, puzzle type games.

You play the game by tilting the controller, as you play the character of Dewy, a droplet of water. This is quite hard to get used to at first, and can be a little clunky at times, but is a relatively innovative and interesting way of playing a game, and certainly attracts the interest of children. By use of the controls, you can make Dewy into gas by heating him or ice by cooling him, so that he can attack or defend himself in different ways.

The biggest problem with the game is though the tilt function, and how you play the game. As mentioned, this is clunky to begin with, but you do get better with practice. However, some of the levels do require a level of accuracy which is frankly quite hard to achieve, even with practice, with the control system. This ultimately definitely takes away some of the longevity of the game.

Another fault in the game is the camera angle can be very awkward. There is no way of changing this, and the camera angle is often blocked, doesn't feel natural and this definitely impinges on the ability of the player to play the game.

The faults with the controls and the camera angle do detract quite a lot from the game, but ultimately, the gameplay behind this game is good. There's lots of gameplay to go through, it's a challenging game and the concept is good. If you can grasp the controls and the camera angle, you will very likely really enjoy this game.

The graphics in the game are really good, and they add a lot to the atmosphere of the game. It's difficult sometimes knowing what age range the game is trying to appeal towards, but the graphics are certainly bold and are likely to be appreciated by children. There are lots of levels in the game, which also means lots of different backgrounds, and these really do enhance the game. The sound in the game is adequate, but doesn't really live up to the quality of the graphics.

There is a network facility, so you can play this game over the wi-fi connection network. As there is a level designer available in this game, you can make the levels you have designed available to others, which adds some long-term interest into the game.

The game retails for 9.99 pounds, but is currently available on Amazon for eight pounds. If you're happy with a second hand copy, these are available at the time of writing, on sites such as eBay and Amazon for around five pounds. The game is rated as 3+, so is suitable for children of nearly all ages.

In summary, this is a strange game as the whole atmosphere of the game, the look and feel of the game, all seems relevant to children, and arguably younger children at that. Although the game might be of interest to kids, the difficulty level is set quite hard, so adults would find it challenging. It makes it difficult to decide what the game is trying to be, but overall, there's lots of fun in playing this game. The problems using the tilt mechanism mean it's not a brilliant game, but it's definitely fun for a while, and given the low price, worth a look.
