Advantages: Makes exercise fun!

Disadvantages: -

EA Sports Active is one of the latest fitness games to be released on the Nintendo Wii.

~ In the Box ~
EA Sports Active comes in a flimsy box (I say flimsy as ours was sent via post from Play.com and arrived very squashed!) with a red resistance band and a leg strap that holds the Nunchuck in place when doing various exercises.

~ The Game ~

The game has many features in which you can take part including a 30 day challenge and even make up your own fitness regime. Most of the workouts will last around 30 minutes and has three intensities - easy, medium and hard. I would advise starting on medium unless you are super fit as some of the running is rather difficult to master - especially the kick-ups and knee ups. The more you use the game the more workouts you can unlock and you are also awarded trophies for your achievements.

Being able to make your own work out is a great addition. You can exercise for just 5 minutes if you wanted to. You can also fill out your profile with how much exercise you have achieved daily away from the game - be it sports, housework, walking etc. You can also fill out your meal plan on there too. EA Active has so many features that it does take a while to figure it all out. It is even compatible with the Wii Fit Balance Board. You do not have to exercise alone either - as long as you have an additional band and leg strap your friend can join in too. You can also purchase additional resistance bands for increased intensity.

~ My Opinion ~

I feel that this game gives you a much better workout than the Wii Fit. It includes upper body workouts including bicep curls and lateral shoulder raises using the resistance band, lower body workouts including squats and lunges and cardio which is the best with the boxing, dancing and running. It really does give you a workout and saves you going to the gym. It is still a chore to motivate yourself to do this everyday but I am trying.

I give this 5 out of 5 as it is so cheap and gives you a workout as well as any gym.

Summary: A great workout without having to leave the house
