The games are played by either standing and moving on the mat together with the wii remote, or by sitting on the mat and using your hands to press buttons on the mat. I personally found the game to be very disappointing. It is clearly advertised as a family game, but only has 10 games that you can play multiplayer, and a few of these games I found to be very similar top each other. However, the...more

Premium Review Family Trainer: Outdoor (Wii): Can be fun, but as the title says, only if you have a family ... (392 words)

Using the Wii as a platform for a Family Trainer game would seem like a good idea, and this is a good try indeed. However, it's not perfect. This game makes use of a third-party exercise mat peripheral that plugs into the GameCube controller ports. It is quite big - it has 8 main buttons that you can step on, but they are arranged differently than they would be on a dance mat. Some minigames require you to stand on the mat, others to sit down. and use your hands to operate it. Additionally, the remote and nunchuk are used to perform additional movements in some activities. The challenges are about half sports, and half minigame-style things, and they can be ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Family Trainer.....Family fun! (185 words)

I got the family trainer as a pressie for my boys after seeing an advert for it on tv. My boys (4 and 6) are both competitive and enjoy the fact they can play together on this, even race each other or work with each other as a team. There are loads of different games from running, jumping, wack a mole, roller-coastering, trampolining, there is too many to name. There is adventure mode, free play mode and training mode. The mat is responsive and gives you the option to say if the player is a child or and adult. It really is fun for everyone (might feel a little silly doing it!) but it definatly burns off loads of calories! very energetic and a brilliant ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Family Trainer: Outdoor (Wii): Fun for all the family... even the pets! (184 words)

Family trainer... it really is fun for ALL the family! Even my dog joins in! And talk about exercise, I would say this will get you fitter than the Wii Fit, although you probably wouldn't have as good balance. So yes, this was a family Christmas present and boy has it been worth it. Mum jumping around and breaking the lampshade (not a requirement of the game by the way) was a Boxing Day 08 highlight. It is easy to use, the flexibility to train when you want or just play games is great, no more Wii guilt for missing a day's exercise. The main downside is the mat as it has a tendency to swivel around on the carpet causing a bit of a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Good Family Fun (226 words)

I saw this family trainer advertised on one of the back of one of my catalogue brochures and straight away knew it would be great fun. I love the games that involve all the family and wanted to give this a try. As soon as it arrived I was eager to give it a try, so me and both son's took it out of the box and hooked it up straight away. The way it works is just like a dance mat for the PS2, but this is for all parts of your body and not just your feet. This is great to play solo as well as as with others. It is also great for all ages I play it with my husband (32) my eldest son (10) and my youngest son to (3), it is a good fun way to get active. Although it is not as ...  Read the complete review

My mum brought us this game after seeing it advertised on tv. The set up of the game is quite good, and the mat has it's own unique design - different to a dance mat, which is what I expected. There are 3 different types of games; single player, teamwork games and friend battle games, although many of these games double up as a single player/multiplayer game, with only 16 different games.
