Having been with my wife for about 3 years now I have since day one heard about her love of a game for the PS1 by the name of Harvest Moon but with the newer consoles out how she does not feel it runs aswell so I wanted to try to find her one that would be able to replace the original she has such fond memories of. Having purchase just about all of the new Harvest Moon games release on the Wii and been told that they are not as good and how disappointed she was with them I finally spotted this one and decided it was worth one last try. So how has the game gone down? Harvest Moon sees you as a character (male or female) who is going to an island in order to work on a farm that has long been left to detoriate much like the island itself. In this version (Tree of Tranquility) you are placed on an island where things used to be fabulous until one day the fairies who generated the rainbows and made all so happy decided to leave (I am making this simple as some will have never played the game). It is your job to build up a successful farm with animals and crops in order to be able to accomplish goals (making recipes, generate money to improve your house in order to marry, etc) whilst also making friendships on the island, developing relationships and working to bring back the fairies and their rainbows and thus bring the island back to its happy times. The game sounds very childish but watching my wife on this I felt it looked pretty good and so decided to have a shot on it and found the game to be very engrossing. The graphics and bright and colourful and make the game feel very airy and fun. The sounds in the game are well done although it is annoying when every morning your character wakes up they have to shout let's go. Despite that little niggle I really enjoyed the game and was glad when my wife told me this one actually lived up to the original. Positives: - Fun game - Great and fun graphics and sounds - Good storyline - Able to be played without following the storyline - Game develops and more unlocks as you go so good longevity - Good value for money - Good control system Negatives: - None A very fun and entertaining game for all.
