I want to start by saying I am a huge fan of Singstar on the playsation and have always been dissapointed that nothing similar was available on the Nintendo Wii, which I also love.
I was very happy to see this for sale in the local games shop one day, not because of what it was but more becuae if they had made one singstar for the Wii then more must be coming along soon.
I bought this game as a present for my 6 year old daughter who worships High School Musical and on first impressions I was quite impressed.
Everyone loves to sing, be it in the shower or on a stage and this really is your chance to strut your stuff and show the world what you can do.
It was good value for money at only £19.99 and it came with a two microphones and lyrics book containg the full lyrics of all the songs on the game.
I was very glad of the lyrics book as while my 6 year old may know the songs word for word I needed a LOT of practice.
When playing the game I was dissapointed that the menu's are difficult for a child to navavigate. There are too many options and setting to chose from that have to be selcted each time you play and considering the game is aimed at children you would think it would be a little more child freindly.
My daughter is very good using computers and games consoles and can set most games up by herself but she had to ask for help with this.
Once the game has been set up and game play begin's it then runs itself and no adult help is needed.
You can play quick play where you pick just one song to sing from a list of all the songs on the disk.
You can also choose what character you would like to be and this alters what lines of the song you will sing, e.g. if you selct a male character you will sing the male lines and vice versa.
You can also selcet story mode which I personally think is better This is where it takes you through a diagologue before each song and plays in a set order. The story tells of the Romance between Troy and Gabrielle, the two main characters of High School Musical right from the day they met.
My daughter loved hearing the stories and singing along and I'm sure that most children will.
This is an excellent game and lots of fun to play just make sure you set it up first and your child will have hours of fun.
It's just a shame they don't provide ear plugs for the poor parents.
High School Musical is a must have game for those who are fans of the film. It has a lot in common with other microphone based games such as singstar. The game itself can be brought for around £15-20 and comes with a microphone. The aim of the game is to dance and sing. The singing can actually be quite difficult as you have to singin time and follow the beat. I have tried just la-laing the words in the appropriate piutch that works too which is a shame asa would be great if you had to sing the words.
The idea of the game itself is great but for a Wii game the graphics are quite awful. I prefer this game in multiplayer mode as it keeps the kids entertained as they battle or work together in the various odes to open the songs and do the dances with the remote.
I would recommend this game if your a fan of high school musical, it is great for the yojunger ones but may drive adults up the wall as they start singing to the catchy songs!
This game is a must for teenage girls and if your fan of the high school musical. The game includes a microphone and as you can guess is all about performing and making a fool of yourself, lol. The game includes dancing where moves flash up on the screen and you have to use your remote to follow them, and singing which you need the microphone for. In order to get better scores on the singing you need to sing in time, in tune and make sure you follow the beat. The graphics are quite poor but it doesnt really matter as its not about that, its just like a karaoke machine in some respects, but you can compete against other people to see who can keep in time with the music. The multiplayer option is fun, and you can sing together and sing against each other. Overall I would recommend this game if your a fan of high street musical because its got everything you want,, if your not a fan it could get seriosuly on your nerves with the songs. Although most of the songs are old songs, would ahev been better top have more from the film.
Not being a high school musical fan i reluctantly played this game at a family members and i was right to be scepitical as this not a good game purely because of the High School Musical theme.
The concept of the game is fantastic, If only it had various song's from the years and was not based on the film i think i would have enjoyed this a lot more.
This game allows you to interact with the movie's characters for the first time on a gaming console. It reloves around the hit movie, you can mix together your favorite characters, songs and scenes. You can sing on your own or as a duet.
The game starts with songs High School Musical, but as you improve through the game you unlock songs from High School Musical 2.
This game features three play modes, Story, Party and Quickplay.
You can also use the Wii remote and the Nunchuk to move to the beat to accompany the singers if you are shy of singing.
It retails around the £40 mark but bear in mind this comes with the microphone too, so it is not that overpriced.
This is a game for any High School Musical fan, which i think would be anyone from aged 6 upwards. But for adult fun this is not the game for you.
I bought this for my 7yo son - he loves High School Musical but being a boy he finds some of the stuff a bit too slushy. As an adult I was really disappointed by the quality of the graphics they are jerky and the game often freezes. As far as the graphics are concerned I really did expect a lot more from a Wii game in that respect.
It also does not use the real voices of the stars which my son found really disapointing. Surely it wouldn't have been too much to ask for the real actors to be used? Personally, I dont think the game is very exciting either and is certainly not very good as a family game.
I do however have a friend with 2 young girls and they think it is the best game ever so what can I say. I suppose it depends on how much you really love the TV show.
Well what can i say? You have to be a huge High school musical fan to buy this or the person your buying for must be. You must have really seen both films and know some of the songs and characters. This game was brought for my daughter for Christmas, i personally would not have gone out and brought it myself because before Christmas i thought it was over priced at £39.99 - £49.99 as it was retailing for. Its currently at £29.99 on game which would have been a better price for me to have considered.
The game is basically Karaoke singing and some dancing. You choose which character you want to play and which song you wish to sing and away you go. You need to follow the song to the words and the correct time and speed, if you do this you get a better score. You can also play in solo mode or Duet mode, i find duet mode more fun. Some of the songs are easier to sing than others and you can have great family fun trying to do better than each other.
Dancing- As well as singing you can also do dancing with the wii remote and Nunchuk,, its fun to have a good but hard to get a good score as myself and daughter couldn't keep up with them. You don't to sing at the same time otherwise it may get too difficult with all the items to hold i.e microphone, remote Nunchuck.
There is also many other features where you can change the characters clothes, Change scenes background, sing to other Disney channel hits.
At the moment this game is fun but is mostly for young girls and after a while i can see the novelty ware off.
This is one of the first wii games to have a microphone included with the game. The microphone fits easily in the usb port and isn't too load when used unless your child decides to screech down it as its awful. The microphone is typical size and easy to hold when singing.
One of the main disappointments is that the high school musical stars don't actually sing the songs in the game, they are sung good but i would have preferred the originals singing them.
So overall i would give this game 6 out of 10. Its fun but will lose its attraction very soon and is overpriced, also graphics are not what i call good for a wii game.
