Advantages: very easy to pick up, lots of cars & bike options to choose from, 30+ courses

Disadvantages: very hard to put down

Mario Kart was part of my Wii bundle. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this. The reason being - I don't like Mario and I don't like racers.

It wasn't long after playing the game that I changed my mind on both of the above. I was quite surprised at how good this game is and not to mention how addictive it is. The difficulty level isn't hard, even for a racing game novice like myself. You can quite easily pick this game up and get stuck into it straight away.

The controls are simple and it plays very smooth and very slick, unlike a lot of racing games that I tried a long time ago. There are a lot of pick-ups and power-ups to be found throughout each track, such as go-faster mushrooms, shell throwing, banana skins, bullet KOs and various others - all of which can turn the tide of the race. In later stages and harder settings you can drop from first to last in a blink of an eye, but once you complete the cart stages, the harder and faster courses and cups become quite easy after a few hours getting used to the basic turns and pitfall jumps.

All the characters from the Mario franchise can be found in this game. If you don't want to play a monkey or a plumber you can use your own Mii to lead you to top spot!

To really get the most out of Mario Kart, it's recommended that you play it with the Wii Wheel and invite some friends around, or play with your family. If you hate your family and friends that's no problem either, as you can compete against peeps in a 12-player match online.

This is by far a great multi-player game for all ages.

Summary: A must own for any Wii owner
