I remember playing Mario Kart on a friend's Nintendo many, many years ago and I absolutely adored it. So, I was thrilled to finally get my hands on a Nintendo Wii and be able to play the Wii version of Mario Kart! Now, several months on, it remains one of the most played games in our household, whether it's just me versus hubbie, or a team game when we have friends over to visit.

You can play Mario Kart either in single player mode or multi-player. There are different ways to play the game, as you can do time trials, single races or cup challenges. As with many of these games, there are extra features and bonuses to unlock when you complete certain races and cup challenges well enough to earn a place in the top three. I think that's part of the fun of this game - you're happy to keep on playing the same races over and over just to get better at it because you know you'll get a bonus at the end! There are initially just four cups to complete, but getting through each one unlocks a new one. You can also race at different speeds, so it keeps the same course fresh because it's a lot harder when you're going so fast!

The game does not get old or boring - we have played the same track time and time again and it's always different and always fun. I personally prefer to play with the wheel, as it offers a very realistic driving & steering experience. I'm not particularly skilled when it comes to car racing games, but there's so much more to Mario Kart than racing cars - it's great fun and very quirky! Being the best driver doesn't always mean you'll win the race, as there are various objects you can drop on the road or throw at your opponents' karts in order to slow them down or knock them off-course. Great fun!
