Advantages: Short easy game to play wth friends
Disadvantages: Repetitive boring wii remote movements
The principle of this game is quite fun. Like mario karts it's all about competition, playing short games, works best in multi-player. This is the first game Mario and Sonic have appeared in the sme game together which is quite cool as I like the nintendo characters.
You can play up to four characters and you compete for olympic medals.
Based on the sports you would find at the Olympics there are 20 real Olympic events, as well as a few fantasy ones including swimming, trampolining, running, high jump and others. You can select characters from both mario and sonic to play with including mario and sonic (obviously), luigi, princess peach, yoshi, knuckles and tails. You can also play with your very own Mii and see yourself compete in the Olympics (quite a comical sight if you're me!)
It is a little difficult getting to grips with the various wii control movements, most of the games work best with the wii remote and nunchuck so you will need 2 nunchucks to play multiplayer at the optimum.
The games are quite short though so it is a fun game to play socially with a group of friends with the added fun of mini competition. You can compete on single games or for the highest accumulation of points over a series of games.
You gradually unlock new games so until you do the ones you get as default can become a bit tiresome and repetitive but it is all round a good game for the Wii.
The fencing event is a little boring, the moves are repetitive as the aim to move your character backwards to dodge oncoming attakcs and counter the attack by moving forwards. So basically involves lots ofthrusting the wii remote backwards and forwards at the TV.
The main problem is that the movements need to be precise and tey aren't very interesting. But as each game is quite short I don't think this matters too much. You do lose marks if you are off time for a move or too enthusiastic moving the remote around.
This game has been coming down in price over recent months and can be purchased frmo amazon or play for between £18-£25. It is worth shopping around for the best price and I find it quite enjoyable but it isn't the wii game I play the most.
Summary: Standard but fun wii game
