Advantages: Everything.
Disadvantages: None
Mario and Sonic at the olympic games is a fun and exciting game for family's. This game came out quite a long while before the 2008 Beijing olympics began, but that still did't make a difference to my decision to buy this game.
There are plenty of events to keep the people playing the game addicted to this game for a few hours. There are several categories to choose from when ready to play in a even there is athletics, shooting, gymnastics, archery, aquatics, rowing, fencing and table tennis. All these categories hold at least one event in the category.
In the athletics category you have 100m, 200m, 4 by 100m relay, long jump, high jump, pole vault, hammer throw and maybe a few others. Most of the athletics events you have to have the nunchuck and the Wii remote to compete in the event.
In the shooting category there is only one event that is shooting, in shooting you have to aim with the Wii remote and fire the targets to get points. Personally i find this hard, you have to have a steady hand in this game to hit the targets.
In the gymnastics category you have trampolining and maybe one other event. In trampolining you use the Wii remote to make you character jump and then whilst up in the air you press buttons to form combinations for tricks to get more points. This is possiblly the easiest of the events on this game.
In the rowing you use the Wii remote to puss back and forewards to help your character gain speed, and on the nunchuck you will also need to press a variety of buttons to make you gom faster. In the archery you use the nunchuck and the Wii remote to aim and fire the arrow looking for theat all important bullseye to gain points. In the aqautics catagory you have all the swimming events like 100m and 4 by 100m you can use only the Wii remote on this event to push forewad and back to gain speed, this category is a great category with some brilliant events.
In the fencing you will need both the nunchuck and the Wii remote to control your opponent with the nunchuck and strike your oppenent with the sword. Personally this is also a easy event but it is one the best. In table tennis you will need the Wii remote to strike the ball across the table to your opponent. This game need concentration and it can be a hard game.
On the game there is also modes like "Dream event" it is not much different to the normal mode all that is different is the venue. Also there are a variety of minigames unfortunataly i have still not tried the minigames so i can't give a summary.
Summary: Great game for all the family to join in with.
