Advantages: Dont have to clean up afterwards and the price
Disadvantages: A bit repetetive
I bought this game for something to play with my cousins when they come round to visit as they are those hyper type who wont sit still unless they have something to do every second or they start bouncing around and smashing things and it is 4 players so everybody can play it at the same time. I have to say I love this game because it's so much fun to play and has a little bit extra than a normal board game of monopoly and you don't have to tidy up at the end its all in a disc.
Everybody will have played some form of monopoly in there life as it is such a popular game we have at least 4 in our house which shows just how popular the game is. The main thing is made up of four players and you can play against the computer so it doesn't matter if there is only one person to play. You can play with either a wii remote each or one wii remote between all players which means you don't have to own four wii remotes to play a four player game. Each player has to move around the board and buy property but if they land on property belonging to another player then they have to play rent to the player who owned the property. When a player has all properties from a colour scheme then they can build houses and then eventually build a hotel which increases the rent. The game continues until one player is left after all other players become bankrupt.
The Wii game has the classic version and as with normal monopoly you can buy many different boards and with the wii game you can earn different board games such as the classic board, the world board, cake board and ice board. Each has different pieces you can play with as well. You earn different boards by getting stamps in your passports which you earn by owning properties on the other boards.
On your turn you have to shake the wii remote to roll the dice and then press A to release them. As with the normal game a double means an extra roll and three doubles in a row means you have to go to jail. At the end of your turn you can pass play onto the next player or go into your account which allows you to buy house or hotels or make trades with other players.
The game can be fairly repetitive with Mr Monopoly constantly repeating the same thing. I love the board game but nobody ever wants to play with me because they are always to busy and therefore this is good and like I said you don't have to put all the money away correctly at the end and clear everything up.
There is also a different version of monopoly at the start called the richest edition to which Mr Monopoly says forget everything you know about playing Monopoly. I decided to try this version first as it was something different and loved it as it was so much fun. There are three different levels of this game which are developer, industrialist and tycoon. Developer is the quickest and is just six rounds and it takes about 30 minutes. Industrialist is played over nine rounds lasting about 45 minutes. Tycoon is the longest one lasting about an hour and played over 12 rounds. I started with tycoon as I believe it is best to start at the deep end and I wanted to play the game to its full.
Each player has to have there own wii remote and as with classic version you can play against the computer and you must have four players whether they be human or computer. At the beginning of each round four dice are rolled from one to six as with a classic dice. Before each player picks there dice they must play a mini game to decide who chooses their dice first. The mini games are quiet fun but are a bit repetitive and all you have to do is come first so that you can pick your dice first or you might end up with the worst dice. After each turn the dice are rolled again and you play another mini game. With this edition the most important decision you have to make is the dice you pick as early in the game you should generally pick higher numbers there are more unowned properties on the board whereas later in the game when more property is owned you are better choosing low numbers so you do not loose your property. The mini games are set up in favour of the losing player and therefore it is good if you are the losing player but not so much if you are on top.
After the mini game and the dice have been decided each player gets spaces on the board which equal the number on their chosen dice. The spaces they are given can be anything on the board and the reward or fine is allocated depending on what you land on. Then Mr Monopoly sets of around the board stopping at any space a player has a token on. No money is used in this version as you win by acquiring all property on the board. Rent is also paid using property for example landing on one property will cost you one property but landing on a set will cost you three properties and houses and hotels increase this even further. A player earns houses and hotels by landing on one of there own set and houses and hotels can be given as rent instead of property. If the property is unowned however the player automatically gets the property.
If a player lands on just visiting they are except from paying rent for the rest of the round. Free parking means that the player can move one of their remaining properties to another square which means that they could be saving themselves from paying rent. Landing on Go allows the player to occupy and unowned property. Landing on Go to Jail means you have to pay three properties to the bank. Landing on tax require you to return one property, or super tax means the player has to give back one property for each four they own. Community Chest and Chance allows different events.
I find with this game that you can be winner at the end of one round and then by the end of the next you could be in fourth place which I love as with the normal monopoly when you are losing you generally lose.
I love the game of monopoly and for the price which is £14.99 it is a bargain as most wii games are much more. I have played the classic edition more than the richest edition as I find the richest edition to repetitive but everybody is different so I would say play both to decide which is your favourite. I have always known my cousins and even me myself when I was younger wanted to play monopoly all the time and I never wanted to clean it up and my youngest cousin has a habit of putting the houses in his mouth and therefore with the wii edition you don't have to clean up or worry about the swallowing of the objects.
Summary: Great game I reccommend it fot £14.99
