Advantages: Graphics, its MONOPOLY, whats bad about it?
Disadvantages: Repetitve speaking, hard computer players
I have been a fan of monopoly for many many years. From junior monopoly to the thr original monopoly. I have also got the here and now version with the snazzy card machine. As i was shopping along with my girl getting a few bits of essentials for dinner in her local sainsburys i thought i'd quickly pop over to there little dvd and games section even though i never seem to find anything! As soon as i got there my eyes automatically saw the little white tasched suited man. Monopoly is a game!!!! and its on the WII!!!!! I ran to my girlfriend like a little kid high on sugar and said 'can we have this? please please please'. I didnt know why i asked as i was paying for it! lol. Anywoo at a good price of £24.99 i thought it was a good price and so bought it.
I have to admit as soon as i got it i held it in my hands until i got to her house. I'm sad i know! whilst she sorted the shopping out, i went straight to the wii and got it all ready.
Now i'm sure you all know what monopoly is all about (if you didnt i'd be very worried!) but in a nutshelll the aim of the game is to buy properties, build houses and hotels and try and bankrupt your mates and be the winner. This is just the games console version, so no money and no cards!
You can play up to 4 of you and your mates, if not they will generate computer players for you. You first start off by picking which board you want to play in. You start off with the original old skool board or the new here and now edition board. After that you pick your little board piece (i always go for the car) and then your off to play.
First thing that struck me that even though it was for the wii (which are the best for grapihics) the graphics of this game were truly amazing. It must of taken them a long time to get this done up. The colours are crisp and the grapihis are very smooth. You even have the monopoly guy with you all through the game!
In order to play you need some dice, which are provided but how do you roll it. Simple just shake you wii remote. As you shake you can hear and feel the dice as if it really is in your hands! (Before you start rolling listen carefully and you'll hear a noise depending on what board piece you have, the car makes an engine noise!) To roll simple press the A button and you can then see your dice roll on the board. Your board piece will then automatically move along with the suited man running to follow it. Again the rest is pretty much the way the usual game is played. If you want the buy the place simply press buy and its done. If you dont want to buy then it goes striaght to auction. To bid simply press the A button.
A nice thing they have put into the game is that they have loads more boards to play on BUT you have to unlock it. To unlock it you must play the games and get passport stamps. These are stamps for everytime you buy a place that you havent bought before. For example you land on kings cross, you buy it and then your PASSPORT is stamped. Get a certain amount to unlock another board. New boards are sweets, jungle, ice, future, deco, cheese and cardboard.
However as with even board games as you play more and more of it, it starts to get abit boring and abit repetitive which unfortunately happened with this. This may be entirely my fault as the high sugared child in me wanted to play more and more! Also when on your own the game likes to put you in some sort of false security. You seem to be getting all thses good places and getting paid when the computer has hardly nothing. Then BAM, your in jail and all of a sudden the computer has got most of the board and building houses and hotels on them. Your soon pretty much out of the game, so beating the computer is real hard.
Overall i would highly recommend this to add to your collection of wii games. Its a different type of interaction with the game and its a great family game or even if a couple of your mates come round. Prices from what i can see vary around the £15 so for that price i'd buy it!
Thanks and enjoy!
