This game has been out for a few years now and having just gotten a Wii, I decided to try this game out.
In this game you get to design your own horse. You can pick the coat colour and mane and tail colour. You also have a choice of different riders that you can be. Throughout the game it gives you the opportunity to unlock different items such as helmets, jackets and breeches for the rider and saddle pads for the horse.
I was looking forward to playing this game but almost straight away I found the controls unbearable! I spent 10 minutes trying unsuccessfully to get my horse to turn, I followed the instructions provided but to no avail. I kept trying but no matter what I did the horse kept blundering into walls or going the wrong way, I think that this game would easily frustrate the young kids that it is intended for, it certainly frustrated me!
I have played the PC version of this and I'm assuming that the Wii game is the same. You go through several different show jumping tournaments until you reach the championship. To progress you have to win bronze, silver and gold trophies. Unfortunately, show jumping is really the only discipline available in this game. Although there are some exercises where you have to steer your horse and go through the stars at different speeds. It would have been nice to have dressage in this game and perhaps a storyline as after you have completed the jumping there's really not much more you can do. There are some games involved which are a bit more fun, such as spot the difference between the two pictures etc.
Overall I give this game 1 star. The graphics are good but the horrible controls and tedious gameplay ruin it. I'd only really recommend this game to those who have a tremendous amount of patience.
My Horse and attempts to make you feel as though you own your own horse from the comfort of your arm chair. Although it sounds great in theory it fundamentally flawed. Even the most horse obsessed youngster doesn't want to sit in front of a tv screen repeatedly grooming in mid air. The whole experience is rather disappointing from that aspect. There are lots of great rides, jumps and even a world championship for you to participate in but these have to be unlocked and the only way to earn the money do this is to take care of your horse which means endless amounts of grooming. Both my daughters quickly grew tired of this.
Iit should be a great game but no one wants to pretend to groom a horse. OK we'll tolerate it once in a while to be able to do the fun stuff but overall this game was a huge disappointment.
