      A different version of a Sims game that offers a lot of fun.

      == MySims ==
      MySims is a new type of game in The Sims series that has been successful for many years. MySims is a lot different in many ways though. The Sims is a great game and so is MySims and I think MySims is aimed at the younger gamers. MySims is of course made from the same creators as The Sims which is EA. The game is also available for the Nintendo DS as well as the Wii. There is a similar game available for the PC and for mobile phones. The game is a simulation platform adventure game. I like the game because Its easy and really addictive. The story to the game is actually really good and for most of the game you do follow it. You create your own character at the beginning of the game. Whether you want to be male or female and you can decide what clothes your character wears and the design of their hair and everything. Even their voice. After that the game starts properly and you see your character meeting the Mayor Rosalyn P. Marshall your required to bring the town your in back to life. Everyone that was in the town has left and everyone who is left in the town is miserable. Your goal is to build new buildings and move Sims into them and make the town how it was many years ago. The Mayor starts you off furnishing the town hall to see if you can help and shortly after he asks you to help get the town back on track. Can you rebuild the town and make everyone happy?

      === GAMEPLAY ===
      The Sims has always been about living an everyday life by building a home, getting a job and keeping your Sims happy. MySims is a little different because in The Sims you needed to use the toilet, take baths, eat food and other things to keep your Sims happy. Now you don't have to do all of that and your job is to rebuild the town. Also you don't need to sleep but you can if you want. The main aim of the game is to talk to Sims and get them to move into the town. If they say they will then you must create what they want. It could be numerous things like a library, club, restaurant, ice cream shop, clothes shop and many more. Some Sims will just want a normal house for living in. I think this is a fantastic thing to add in a Sims game and I also think it makes it more fun. After they've moved into their new home and you talk to them again they may ask you to create them some furniture or other bits. You can create items in your workshop which you receive at the start of the game. When creating a home or business you have to pick out of so many items on how it will look. Things like walls, roofs, windows, doors and even chimneys. The inside of the house is created automatically but you do create things to put in the houses.

      The creating items part of the game is really annoying at times and can take several pieces or blocks to create something. It involves moving your Wii remote and sticking parts where they're highlighted. You don't have to create the items alone because it gives you an invisible version of how it should be and you can just copy that or add bits to it. Its really complicated to create items when there are a lot of bits to it. I have recently created something that took 40 pieces and it took me ages especially with colouring it in. Throughout the game when your exploring you will come across numerous items known as Essences which are just items like apples, bricks and absolutely far too many to name. Collecting these is brilliant because you use them for creating your items. After the item is created you can paint it with these items you've collected. Sometimes people will request items that require you to paint half with flowers and half with chocolate. Doing this makes the other Sims like you more.

      You can almost explore everywhere straight from the beginning of the game but there are certain parts that require tools for you to be able to explore. To get these tools you have to level up. Leveling up is simple because all you need to do is build the town and create items. Doing this increases your level. The Mayor will then give you a tool which will open up new areas in the game. Whilst this is a great idea it does become annoying with the leveling up. Also finding items is fairly hard at first and most of the decent items are found when you can get in other parts. Other places you can explore are places like caves, woods and even a desert. Some of these places are linked to the town so you can create places there too. You can do numerous things in town such as cut trees down and even go fishing. Fishing is really simple and also beneficial. You don't need money on the game which is an advantage because I always struggled at times on The Sims when buying so much for my house. You have to build your house as well but it doesn't really matter how because I don't think I ever entered it throughout the whole game.

      I like this game. I would even go as far to say its not far off being better than The Sims. I have always loved any type of Sims game because they're so addictive and building stuff on games is actually really cool and popular. The game does have its downsides as do all games. The loading times on this are ridiculous but its probably because its a Wii game. Every single time you enter or leave a house the loading screen is atrocious and takes ages compared to most loading screens. I like the building options the game has to offer but I do think they get annoying as you get further and I was always rushing to try create something quickly. I like the way your Sim moves around the town. Hes really quick and the layout is also fairly good. There are only certain places you can create the buildings but you can notice them when playing. There are well over 200+ different Essences on the game which can all be used for different colours or patterns on the objects you create. Overall MySims is a great game, its very different to The Sims but offers a lot of new options. I had fun playing the game and would recommend it.

      === GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS ===
      I'm not a massive fan of the graphics for the game. They look a little childish at times but that's what a lot of Wii games are like because its aimed more at the younger gamers. One thing I did love was the colouring in the game and I thought it suited it really well. I was a little disappointed with the look of the town and feel it could of been slightly better and a little bit bigger. The characters are okay but a lot of them look a little similar to each other. The sky, trees and other parts of the scenery was also okay but nothing special. Overall the graphics are just okay but it doesn't really effect how the game plays.

      I was fairly impressed with the sound effects to the game even though the Sims still cant speak English. The music to the game does get a little annoying at times but its part of the game and it does grow on you. I like the way the sound comes into play as you pass things like a waterfall or fountain because you can hear the water falling etc. Its really good and did surprise me how interesting and good the sound effects are.

      === DIFFICULTY & LONGEVITY ===
      The game isn't at all difficult. I completed the game and didn't struggle at all. Don't let the fact the game being easy put you off though. Designing the outside of the buildings is extremely easy and a lot easier than The Sims. Creating a Sim on this game is fairly simple but annoying. I clicked so many times on his clothes to change them and I kept missing the clothes I wanted. The hardest part of the game has to be creating the items or finding the rare Essences. Everything else in the game is simple and wouldn't cause any problems for anyone.

      The length of the game varies. It all depends on how quick you master everything about the game. Navigating the town and leveling up is the longest part to the game. Leveling up seems to take a long time but saying that so does the loading screens. Also sometimes you might need to go from the town center to the desert which can take a while due to loading screens. To fully fill your town and have it successfully completed your looking at around the 30+ hour mark which is actually really good. Another good thing is these type of games can be played again and different things happen. You can have different Sims move in and the game will pan out differently.

      === GOOD BITS ===
      *Create your own town to look how you want it to look.
      *There are hundreds of different Essences to collect on the game and use.
      *There are so many options when creating buildings or items.
      *No more eating, using the toilet or trying to survive because you cant die!
      *The sound effects are really good and the game gets addictive!

      === BAD BITS ===
      *The loading screens are ridiculous and annoying.
      *You cant get married on the game or live with anyone.
      *Creating the items gets really annoying sometimes especially with the different amount of options.
      *No multiplayer options at all.
      *The controls are really sensitive due to the Wii remote control and sensor.

      === FINAL THOUGHT ===
      Its definitely worth mentioning that MySims is probably just short of being as good as the proper Sims games because they just offer a little more than what this does. Its still a fantastic game though and does offer a new dimension to a Sims game. This is the first MySims game in the series and they is and will be more.

      I would seriously recommend the game to almost everyone. Its fun and addictive and at times a little childish. Its also quite funny and a little geeky. Kids will adore this game because of its childishness and the fact it will be a lot of fun for them to play. Its colourful and entertaining so why not. The game has an age rating of 3+ and that says it all. Fun for the whole family its just a shame its only one player. The game manual is poor and probably the worst on a Wii game I have seen.

      The price of the game is fantastic. I won my copy of the game on an eBay auction for £3.50 which included the postage. For most games that is a good price but for this its amazing. The game is going most places for under £5 and its totally worth every penny.

      A game I would seriously recommend its a lot of fun and I would give the game a reasonable 7/10!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A good game, but lacks a bit.

        My sims is in the space between a good game and a not so good game. It has just as many bad points as it has good points.
        A lot of My sims is constructing and building houses and furniture. This however is very easy to do without being really fiddly. Unlike The Sims game, My sims has gone for a more cartoony look and it has worked out for the best being a friendly alternative for children that want to play games in the series.
        However there is not much about metting other people in the game. Most of the time you're just building a house for them or doing their chores rather than getting into conversation. A completely pointless part of the game is collecting essences which apparerntly makes your work look better. But maybe some of us just don't want to paint our tables with apples or our shelves with 8 balls.
        My sims is family friendly, great for kids and looks great but lacks the gameplay.
        A good game. 72%

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A charming game, whilst the loading times are a let down, everything else is perfect or close to it.

        The Sims series was made famous on the PC, indeed, the console variations pale significantly in comparison due to the consoles being unable to process the same amount of data and customisable content. Thankfully EA has come to the rescue with MySims, a game barely recognisable from the regular Sims games. Almost all of the socialising aspects have been replaced with customisation construction of houses and furniture (using a set of given blocks, think Lego but simpler) But seeing as the socialising aspect has been removed, does it have the lifespan required to be a successful game?

        Gameplay

        The target audience can be considered to be younger as the gameplay is simpler and more immersive, what I mean by that is that your Sim does not require food/drink/toilet breaks/a job/money or sleep. The gameplay is dumbed down, and for someone like me this is perfect, as it allowed me to focus on construction and creation without having to constantly monitor my Sim's condition. There are 3 areas, the town itself, a forest and a desert, as well as little caves that can be explored in each, and by improving your town and getting it to a higher level, these can be unlocked. The absence of currency and many other regular Sims mainstays means something else was needed to collect and this element is the large collection of essences.

        Essences can be found in a variety of ways, some are grown via trees, some are fished, some prospected (dug up), some gotten only by chopping down trees of varying types and others still are gotten via interaction with other Sims (such as the happy essence). The many essences come in six groups, Spooky, Geeky, Studious, Tasty, Cute and Fun. These six groups are one of the main points of the game, your town can become 100% of a certain type by filling it (for example) with Fun Sims and filling houses with Fun furniture, having it 100% has a special Sim come along, visiting the hotel and you can move them in.

        The Sims arriving at the hotel (presumably by train) can all be moved in, the higher level your town is, the more different Sims arrive. There are two types of Sims, business Sims and townies. The business ones are, as named, head of a business of some type (usually... there are some exceptions who just have large houses, but generally speaking), these require you to do a certain amount of tasks, completing these tasks unlocks new blueprints and completing the last one unlocks a special blueprint. Befriending these Sims also unlocks their clothing. Townies live in a regular house and when befriended you unlock another new blueprint. Each Sim has a primary and secondary interest, as well as a hate, all of which are from the six groups stated above, building furniture of the same essence as their interests will quickly befriend them.

        It is the construction side which is the key point of the game. Firstly you can edit all existing buildings, including the mayor's office and the hotel, you also build all new houses for any Sims you move in. The construction blocks vary a lot, and more are unlocked with each person you move in, and like most of the game, the majority of these blocks are of one of the six interest groups, so pick wisely. The essences are even more important during the construction of furniture, whether building it for your own Sim or for another Sim. Furniture construction can be built along a ghost frame, but creativity is certainly encouraged, wanted a fridge shaped like a space rocket? Try it. A bed shaped like a snakes mouth? Go for it. The essences can be used during construction or more importantly, to paint the blocks used. Again, these paints are from one of the six groups and making a table 100% spooky is naturally going to be very warmly accepted by one of the spooky Sims.

        Creativity and customisation is the key in MySims, the buildings themselves, the walls and floors inside, furniture within and the Sims themselves can also be dressed up and changed to your will. Using some furniture later on (Salon Chair, Costume Chest etc) you can edit both your own Sim and other Sims, allowing you to have a town full of pirates, hippies or everyone walking around in suits of armour. Furniture (and appliances etc) can be used by your Sim and others, nothing like having an Ice Cream Parlour in your bedroom. It is very different from the main series, and kids will like the new simpler format. Older players may be wary, understandably, however there is a lot of customisation available, allowing the immature player (such as myself) to make furniture shaped like rude and amusing objects. On a more serious note it is very fun to play, either in short bursts or in a huge marathon.
        5/5

        Graphics

        The MySims universe is very colourful and cartoony, the trees and fountains, whilst not intended to be realistic, are well detailed and look very nice. The three areas (town, desert, forest) all look diverse and very attractive, especially the forest which takes on an oriental theme once people have been moved into it. Most prominently however are the Sims themselves, which have taken on many cartoon qualities, very much resembling a chibi (due to the very large head in comparison to the body, usually being a third of the overall body size) Those who want lifelike graphics will not be pleased, however nor would they be pleased with the many other less-than-lifelike aspects, this is clearly not aimed at them. The graphics are very good indeed, with the MySims universe looking colourful and detailed.
        4/5

        Sound

        The background main music in Sims is, like the rest of the game, very cheerful and uplifting and is of a high enough quality to not get repetitive. There is also different music played in houses and buildings, all of which is themed according to the 'essence' interest of the owner. The Sims don't talk English, instead speaking the Sims language, Simlish, though it is usually easy to figure out what is meant because of the action accompanying it (example, a Sim talking to you in Simlish talks to you, with an inflection as if asking a question at the same time as offering you an ice cream, it is obvious what was probably being said) The sound is charming and easy for children to like without being too cutesy and repetitive for adults to become annoyed by.
        5/5

        Longevity

        When your town is up to the fifth level, you have access to all Sims (when they arrive by chance in the hotel) and all essences. The town is completely yours to customise, if you want a whole town of Sims in suits of armour living in castles then get to it. A whole town of businessman (and women!) living in regular houses, your choice. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination, especially when it comes to building furniture, which really is the meaning of creativity. I bought this upon release, almost two years ago, and I often come back to it as it is a great outlet for my creative energy., I have created such 'sculptures' (this means that you cannot interact with the object) a very detailed snooker table, indoor toilet facility for a restaurant and an electric-chair-toilet! Children will find longevity in the simplicity of the game, whilst the older player may have a few less reasons to play it. However for creative minded people, this is a great way to build those weird and wacky creations you think of.
        5/5

        Value for Money

        Copies of MySims are now floating around on a certain famous auction site for less than £10. For the sheer longevity and also the thrill of creating anything you desire, this represents great value for money. There is much fun to be had here, for children and adults alike, though the more creatively minded will enjoy it more. Your town will become very much a personal long term project. At £30 I believed it to be very good value for money, and as one of the best games on the Wii, at less than a tenner, it should be seriously considered.
        5/5

        Loading Times

        Normally not of any importance to change my opinion of a game, but in this case it really must be addressed. Whilst running inside around houses and outside staying in one area everything is fine, however it is when you change areas when things get messy. Mostly when exiting a house and therefore going into the town area, the more buildings there are, the longer the loading time is, and we aren't talking a second or two. When exiting my house into the town area I experienced a 27 second wait, and whilst I understand there is a lot of customisable content to load for a whole area this is rather excessive. This is not quiet loading, the Wii sounds like it is struggling to load all the information and being very noisy about it (despite being easily able to deal with large amounts of content in other games) so this is not a hardware issue and is an issue solely of the game. Loading times when going into houses, or exploring an area is very good albeit it with the occasional stutter, yet is very excessive when exiting buildings and will get worse with the more houses you build.
        2/5

        Overall

        This game is all about creativity, I know I have stressed this point but that is the principle upon which this game is built. Apart from some restrictions (so you can, for example, sit on the toilet) and a 99 block limit to keep down loading times, you can make weird and wonderful creations, for example, in one house I have a snake design going through the kitchen, and each section of the body is a different kitchen appliance, it then goes through the wall and with a gaping mouth, becomes the bed. I know the 99 block limit applies but only to each piece of furniture, you can easily join them together into a giant unit. This freeform creativity gives MySims almost limitless longevity, this coupled with the fun graphics and music means this game should be seriously considered as a purchase regardless of age. The loading times are not a game breaking feature, they can be put up with, however it does take away from the game, and can even make the game feel fragmented. This issue does stop the game from being a really superb and must buy game but it is almost perfect in every other respect and I highly recommend it.
        5/5

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Great!

          I got MySims for my birthday, since sims is my favorite game ever. MySims is for the Nintendo Wii and is rated 3+ since t is a game for a very wide range of people from children to adults. You play this game with the wii remote and the Wii numchuck.

          This is a very nice creative game where you can build your own furniture and house with building blocks. When you make your sim, a new addition is that you can select and adjust your sims voice! For a male sim, you could have a nice deep voice, or for a girl sim you could have a very girly squeaky voice!

          The aim of this game is to help the locals that have still lived in your town, to make other sims come and live in your town to liven everything up. By doing that you might have to, build them some furniture or run some jobs for them. You can unlock new parts of your town if you have reached a certain level.

          I would reccommend this to anyone who likes being creative with what they have and likes a nice calm game without gun action or blood violence.

          My Sims for the Wii

          My Sims: Wii

          For those of you that have not heard of the Sims before, (Have you been on Mars?), I'll give you a quick run own but for more information check out wikipedia.

          The original Sims game, simply called "The Sims" was made by Maxis, (Now part of EA games I think), and was for the PC/Mac. It's a "God Game", which means you get to control every aspect of the game and make all the decisions for your Sims. There was no plot to the original Sims, it had fully open-ended gameplay. Console versions of Sims games tend to be quite simplified and they also usually have a plot. A lot of fans of the original Sims don't actually like the console versions because they are so different but I just enjoy them for what they are.

          My Sims starts off with a story to lead you into the game. It's quite simple; basically you move into a new town and the people there need your help to rebuild their town. You have to build houses and businesses and make furniture for the Sims. To be able to complete your tasks you need to collect "essences" such as fruit which you get from shaking trees, emotions which you get from being nice, (or nasty), to other Sims and stone which you get by using a metal detector and prospecting.

          There are a few inhabitants in your town when you move there and they provide your first few tasks, after that you need to go to the hotel and move people in. It's quite nice that you get to choose who lives in your town but there is so much space that I have just been moving everyone in!

          As you complete tasks your town's happiness increases and you earn stars, each star unlocks up new stuff and new areas. Your town is actually huge so there is plenty of scope for extended play.

          Building the houses and businesses is my favourite bit. Each Sim has their own style and personality and to make them happy you have to build each building to suit their tastes. Building is very simple, just point your Wii remote and nunchuck and click.

          Making furniture is less fun in my opinion, you get a blueprint for each piece of furniture and although it is still point and click but it can be very difficult to get the pieces together and I find myself getting quite frustrated with it. It's not so bad that it puts me off plying though. It is quite rewarding when you manage to make something nice though.

          The graphics are cute in a very Nintendo way, (I personally think that the Sims look like Lego people). I know a few people who have said that the graphics on the Wii are too simplistic but that is one of the things that attract me to this game.

          The sound effects are sweet too, Sims talk a kind of gibberish but is often quite funny to hear them chatting away. The music is quite cute but I find that it gets a bit annoying, especially when I find myself humming it when I'm not even playing!

          My Sims requires both the Wii remote and the Nunchuck and is for one player only. It is made by EA games under license by Nintendo. It says on the box suitable for ages 3+ but I personally think kids would need to be a little older.

          Currently HMV have this game for 9.99 with free postage.

            Disadvantages

            My Sims is a very good simple game with lots of little quirks, i enjoyed it very much.

            I was pleasantly surprised by My Sims, I bought it on a whim as it was on sale at my local supermarket. From the look of it, I thought it looked more for children than adults. I was pleasantly surprised to find that even though it was more suitable for kids, I actually enjoyed building the objects for the houses, finding the new items and working out whom to go to next. I ended up quite addicted to it. The loading time can be very slow at times i noticed but other than that i have no more complaints, its a good simple game. The levels are not too easy to attain, nor are they too hard. There is always new items to be found, so I didn't get too bored. I have now finished it and will definitely put it away for my girls until they are a bit older.

            Fun sims game in a cartoon way

            Having been an avid fan of of the origional sims game's i really wanted to try this game on the wii.
            Having hunted high and low to get this game i finally found it.
            When i bought the game home i turned it on and followed the instructions.
            The game starts with you choosing and designing your own sim, i tried to make mine like me! Would be awesome if you were able to use your wii mi with the game. You then get the chance to select a name for your town.
            The game starts of explaining what the story is, which gives the game a purppose.
            As the game transpires you have to build houses and items for. inside houses and different businesses.
            Next to the house you have is a work shop and there are blue prints which you have to use to build certain items, the first few items are really easy but does get more complicated.
            The first time i played this game i ended up spending two hours on it, very addictive, young people will especially enjoy this game, well worth the money.

            It is a game which very interesting not only for kids but also for adults

            My Sims is a simulation game which entertaining both adults and kids. You would be given the character which could be woman or man just as you wish. You would be the carpenter, which house is near the city hall. Your job is to make furnitures, helping the town people to get furnitures just like what they wanted.

            To get the stuffs just like what they wanted you should get the essence from the town and the town people. This is an open-end game, you can get those people in or out, you can make your town just like what you want.

            I like this game even it was a little bit childish. The game is very interesting because of the essences we should get. The furniture making is also very exciting because you can make almost everything you want only with the wood blocks and the coloring paints.

            I also like this game because it is very funny. Try to make them interact with other townies and you would get what I mean. It is funny, and because it is not containing adult material, it is very suitable for kids as well.

            The drawbacks is that this game loads quite harder. After some levels, and you have opened many expansion, it would be a little bit harder to move from one page to the other page because it would take longer to load.

            If you want a little bit slow adventure and maybe you want to ask your kids to play game with you, this is a really good choice. I recommend this game for everyone, because it is for general consumption.

            Enjoyable game for all the family

            Ok this game is a bit of a funny one. I was warned of this game as I was told it was rubbish and for children only, but I decided it looked fun and bought it anyway. I'm glad I did, I really love playing this game, it is a wee bit childish but so much fun for big kids too. There is a little village that you build villages and you are set tasks to do, this is definately my kind of game, I like beingg able to decorate houses, build houses, make furniture and buy loads of things, with all the little characters coming round for parties, dinner etc. it is very fun. I can see why people call it childish as it is completely different to Sims but if you can get past that you will really enjoy the game. Definately worth the money and kids love it too.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            simfans will probably like it-especially those who like buiding in the other games

            my sims created by ea gameas-the first thing you will probably notice is that these sims look different from the sims in the normal games(less lifelike more like cartoon characters).

            playing the game-the first thing you get to do in the game is create your sim. you can change skin tone,hair colour,pick the way their voice sounds and give them a name.

            you then get to meet major rosalyn and she shows you where you arev going to live. this is where you get to make your 1st building-your new home.
            essances-these are hidden all over the place and you have to find them. these can also be collected by interacting with different sims ie a sim that is classed as scary might give you a scary essance. you can then use the collected essances to decorate your house,items you have made. in the game you will be given tasks to do which require you to use certain essances,you will have to find these and add them to objects you have made.
            hotel-as your town progresses you will have visiters that want to move in,they can be found at the hotel in the centre
            content
            graphics-i found as the game went on the loading time started taking longer. music could have been better but then agin to me thats just background noise so it didnt matter. there is quite alot to do however it is quite repetative so once you have opened all the areas you might get bored

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                A fun creative game where you run and desgin your town

                Unlike any of the Sim's predessors (which were still popular) the entire game plan has been re-thought very well using the Wii's motion sensitive controls to a very fine detail.It starts the game with an interesting plot (not giving it away!!) allowing to become one the important people of the town that you create (which you name yourself).
                To be able to build certain objects you need Blueprints which allow you to build a specific object eg chair.Without the blueprints you can't build the specific object,and this is where helping the town's people comes in.You build an object they want and in return you get a blueprint which can allow you to build a certain item.
                Sims will also want an Essence (this is a sort of paint which allows you to "paint" the objects),you can retrieve essences from your enviroment to speaking to the differnt characters.
                This game has been well thought out and planned so a pat on the back for EA Wahey!! Good Fun "Go wildly creative" game.

                Naturally the game makes full use of the WiiÆs controls with the remote used to pick up, rotate and drop objects and buildings with refreshing ease, while the nunchuck is used simply to move around. This is all in the aid of making the game as customisable as possible, from the characters themselves to their homes and furniture. Previously The Sims games let you build your own house or swimming pool but here you can design your own fridge if you want or bed, sofa or any other item of furniture. This feeds into the concept of having to do up your house and turn your virtual ghost town into a thriving village full of oddball characters. With Animal Crossing still some way off this could be the next big casual game on the Wii.
