The Past I grew up playing games on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), most of my favourite games when I was younger included my favourite plumbers Mario and Luigi and their dinosaur friend Yoshi, and of course Princess Peach, who always seems to be running into bad luck and getting captured by the villain in this game King Bowser. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a surprisingly hard game to classify, it represents five years worth of back-pedalling in what some would argue is a less profitable direction. Nintendo has never shown themselves to be afraid of taking risks and New Super Mario Bros. Wii feels like another of their gambles, though I'm not quite sure why. Mario has been a huge game for around 25 years now and when I purchased the Wii console the game I wanted the most was Super Mario Brothers and I was so fortunate I did as it proved to be a real success. The side scrolling mario platformer comes to the Wii for the first time after the huge success it enjoyed on the DS a couple of years ago. Would the old favourite manage to charm on the big screen as much as it did on the little screen. The answer is yes and no really. Although obviously the game is fun and not much has changed from the chase peach around attempting to rescue her from 8 worlds concept. I still remember staying up late at night with the television on mute playing Super Mario. No wonder I wasn't always the best student at school the following days. One of the first games we got with our Wii was the Mario Kart racing game. It was great family fun.
