Sam and Max were created over twenty years ago in a comic book where they were freelanch police. The concept, and their images have not changed much at all to this day. Years ago the characters were turned into a point and click PC game and then at the end of 2008 the updated wii version was bought to the market. The graphics have obviously advances slightly and the stroylines updated howvere the basic, winning concept has stayed the same. You follow the freelance investigators through solving their crazy out of this world mysteries via a point and click adventure. You take on the role of the main character and walk around various locations, witht he ability to pick up objects and save them in your invetory, examine things and talk to other characters. The puzzles are at times a little easy and repeptitive, but how much that bothers you depends on what you purchased the game for. Due to the cartoon nature of this film you may find the story and puzzles unrealistic, but thats exactly what you wold expect if you know the crazy sam and max world!
Sam and Max is split into six hilarious episodes. Each having its own story but with an underlying plot that links them all. The main characters are Sam, the leader and slightly more sensible of the pair and Max, a mental rabbit whose favourite hobby is pain! The pair make up a private detective crime fighting duo, who always get their villain, not always by the book.
The gameplay is old fashioned point and click sleuth-em-up. Which is saved from being tiresome by the witty dialogue. Rather than being punished for repeating actions, players are treated to several different comedy phrases which doesn't sound like much but when you're a point and click veteran, having your character say something like "No, that isn't right - I'll try something else" over and over is infuriating to say the least.
Sam & Max are also stars of their own comics and cartoons both of which are very good. The game is quite difficult to get hold of on the wii but it also appeared as a windows game which is a bit easier to come by.
I'm a big fan of this type of game and this is a refreshing addition to the genre.
