Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
Advantages: Loads of characters including Sonic + Snake! Great fast paced gameplay, addictive, excellent graphic
Super Smash Brothers Brawl is a fighting game for the Nintendo Wii.
The game this time has a proper (sort of) story mode in the form of the Subspace Emissary mode, here you will journey through platforming levels and face bosses just like the adventure mode of Super Smash Brothers though in this mode there are far more cutscenes, the story is pretty silly really it follows the plot of the Ancient Minister as he tries to destroy the world of Smash Brothers! It will keep you amused for a while though!
Smash Brothers Brawl brings in a lot of your favourite Nintendo characters including quite a few new and unexpected additions to the series, Mario, Luigi, Bowser and Peach all return representing the Musroom Kingdom, Fox Mcloud of the Star Fox series, Lucario, Pikachu and the Pokemon Trainer represent for Pokemon, Samus is back too. Sega have also kindly allowed Sonic to be in the game and Konami have allowed Solid Snake to enter the arena! So that Sonic Vs Mario argument you used to have can now finally be settled!
The game supports multiple controllers, you can use the Wii remote, Wii remote and Nunchuck, Gamecube controller or the Classic controller whichever you prefer. I prefer the Gamecube controller as I am used to playing Smash Brothers Melee!
If you play alone you can do the Subspace Emissary story mode, Solo mode which allows you to take on a series of opponents and some challenges like breaking the targets or hitting a sandbag like in previous titles and finally face off against the boss Master Hand who returns from Melee! You can also face off against the computer.
Multiplayer is far more enjoyable as it allows you to team up with your friends and all brawl in the games crazy power up filled environments! The basic brawling involves a number of special moves mapped to the B button and basic attacks on the A button. You can also do smash attacks which are mapped to the C Stick (yes I use the Gamecube controller for this game!). You must get your opponents % as high as you can then smash them off the stage to score points!
The game introduces a Smash Orb that you can now hit to unleash a super move! Some characters like Link will unleash a devastating sword attack that will basically net you a free kill but some like Snake have even better abilities and can jump in a helicopter and gun down enemies, or like Sonic go Super Sonic and fly around destroying everything!
Graphics have been upgraded from Melee on close inspection the characters really look amazing and the stages are more interactive than ever!
If you thought Super Smash Brothers Melee was good prepare to have that feeling all over again, its time to Brawl!
Summary: One of the most fun fighting games around!
