The House Of The Dead is one of my favourite shooting games to play on the rare occasions I get to spend some time in a games arcade. Along with the Time Crisis series, I have probably spent a small fortune on playing these. Probably enough to buy my own game. Once this was released on the wii, I did just that. Ok, so a wii game can hardly compare to the price of an actual arcade machine but where on earth would I keep one of those?!?

This game takes a slightly different approach to the other games in the series in that it seems to be more based around an actual horror movie storyline. The actual design of the game also reflects this; the graphics, voices and characters used in this game reinforce the feeling of the classic horror films of years gone by.

This is not an easy game by anyones standards but I would expect a fairly competent gamer to complete this within a few days if they really put their mind to it. It is alot of fun and fits into the House Of The Dead franchise really well as a prequel to the games that we all know, love, and spend fortunes playing. When this game was being created the designers seemed to want to make sure that it was awarded an 18 certificate. They did a good job. Some of the scenes in this game are so full of gore than some people may not be able to stomach it. Personally, I loved it, but I could see why some won't. There is also a large amount of obscenities and some nakedness, just to be totally sure that the 18 certificate would be on the cover.

I would highly recommend anyone buying this game to also purchase the Hand Cannon wii remote attachment. You can get this for under ten pounds in most places and allows you to insert your normal wii remote to convert it into a gun. Its quite bulky but works really well. It also makes you feel super macho. I dare anyone to use this and not try and pull off a few poses after blowing a few zombie's brains out. Good luck.
