Advantages: Pick up and play, gory with great graphics
Disadvantages: Too many f-words detract from a great game
Being a massive zombie movie fan, I pre-ordered this game. I'd played House of the Dead on the Sega Saturn - so sort of knew what to expect.
You will need a light gun of some sort ~ I already had the Wii Zapper; but really like the looks of the official "Hand Cannon".
Basically; you shoot zombies and monsters. The whole game is done in a B-movie style. Excellent graphics and loads of blood and guts.
As you progress through the game you earn cash to up-grade your guns. Plus there are other little extras to un-lock. Including a directors cut and a duel wield mode (where you can have a gun in each hand - John Woo style).
The game is pretty easy; maybe a little too easy - to be honest is my kind of game. So no complaints there.
However, I do have one major problem with this game. The swearing.
Don't get me wrong; a little swearing in the game would be welcomed. ...but unfortunatley it's too much - rather than focusing on the original B-movies; the makers have looked to Tarantino's bastardisation of the grindhouse genre.
However I have found a way around it.
Go to "Audio Settings" and turn down the music and movie sound.
Because the game is pick up and play; and broke in to mini-scenes (so you can easily access your favourite levels) - makes it an easy game to come back to.
Overall. Good game.
Summary: Good game. Too much swearing.

- 30/07/09 Personally I like the swearing element, normally in real life I despise swearing, but for me, personally, I find it good. Still a very good review. |
