Advantages: Very good graphics, and controls are straightforward and easy to use

Disadvantages: Some of the weapons are truly overkill so can make the game a bit too easy and dull!

House of the Dead is a great shoot-em-up style game. A bit gory and graphic in places, and with a fairly shocking amount of bad language - so perhaps not suitable for the kids - but for adults it's a fantastic game.

The graphics are excellent equality, and the controls are very precise and easy to use. There are around seven levels, and once you've completed all of those you can open up 'director's cut' mode which makes each of the levels longer, with more mutants to shoot at. You also earn money which you can use to purchase new weapons.

Disadvantages: The plot line is a bit rubbish, but let's face it, nobody buys this game looking for a riveting storyline, do they?

The two-player mode can be a bit glitchy at times - things like if both players try to shoot at the same time only one works correctly, or the game just runs slightly slower. It's not a major problem, but is a bit noticeable when you switch from one-player to two player.

Summary: Great game, but not for kids!
