Well what can I say after a couple of glasses of wine of a weekend me and my friends are partial to a bit of usually 'Singstar' action however my ps2 has been playing up lately someone closed it with the cable in one night and now it only works when it feels like it so I was overjoyed to find that wii now do singing games too.
So heres whats on it :
Amy Macdonald--Don't Tell Me That It's Over
Amy Winehouse--Back to Black
Atomic Kitten--The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)
Blondie--Heart of Glass
Dionne Bromfield--Mama Said
Duffy --Warwick Avenue
Girls Aloud--The Promise
Gwen Stefani feat. Akon--The Sweet Escape
Joss Stone--You Had Me
Katy Perry--I Kissed a girl
Kim Wilde--Kids in America
KT Tunstall--Suddenly I See
La Roux--In for the Kill
Lady Gaga feat. Colby O'Donis--Just Dance
Neneh Cherry --Woman
No Doubt--Don't Speak
Noisettes--Don't Upset the Rhythm (Go Baby Go)
Pixie Lott--Mama Do
Rihanna feat. Jay-Z--Umbrella
Sugababes--About You Now
T.A.T.U--All The Things She Said
Tina Turner--What's Love Got To Do With It
The Pussycat Dolls--Don't Cha
Vanessa Carlton--A Thousand Miles
V.V. Brown--Shark In The Water
Many of these are our all time favourites so thats great transforming into The Pussycat Dolls has never been easier. All you need is the game and a usb microphone, now you can get the game with microphone £29.99 but you ony get 1 mic which lets face its not so much fun singing away on your own is it so heres what I did, I went along to my nearest gamestation and brought a pre owned one for £4!!! absolute bargain as the price on amazon currently for the game with 2 microphones is £45.81! shop around for microphones try Game also and the CEX stores are good you will probably be able to pick the game up in there for a fraction of the price also. Anyway back to the review.
So heres what to expect:
You load the game up being given the usual wii warnings of making sure you controller is strapped to your wrist you are then told to insert microphones these fit into the usb port in the back of the wii console.
Main option screen choices:
1 player or 2 player mode pretty self explanatory.
Jukebox - where you can just choose to listen to the songs.
Download content - which takes you to the online store where you can download more karaoke classics to enjoy with your friends.
Options - where you can adjust the volume of microphones, watch the intoduction which gives you tips on playing the game like don't hold the microphone to close to your mouth and how to know if your microphone is working correctly and explaining ow to adjust microphone volume when singing by using the controler arrow key. On this option you have the opportunity to 'exercise your singing first' or return to the main menu. Exercising involvessinging la down the mic in different pitches ( i think the word is maybe key lol). It then rates you on your exercises giving you a percentage score on yor vocals.
Back to main menu
1 player select leads you straight to the songs choose what you want to sing using the 'A' button and then choose the difficulty level Easy Medium or Hard (no matter how much drink I have had have not selected hard yet I am not that brave lol). You also have the option of singing the short or full version of the song. You have to sing a note to activate the song just a laaa will do. You then enter game mode the words appear karaoke style along the bottom of your sreen and lines appear to monitor how close you are to hitting the note. When you hit the right note words of encouragement sping up 'magnificant, great, good' and you get a score. The artist sings along at th same time so it's not just your voice you here which makes it more comfortable than karaoke I think especially if your new to singing infront of others. At the end of each game you get a score and this saves on your records with a percentage of how well you did and a category you are in i.e. Beginner, Star, Professional.
2 player mode has the same game play as 1 except you have more options of how to sing you have:
Duo- some songs contain different sections to sing seperatley
Versus - where you both sing together to see who gets the highest score
Battle mode - you take it in turns to sing one singing and one has the chance to sabotage the song by holding the correct note. Don't usually play in this mode much prefer to sing together.
Overall this game is entertaining for everyone who likes to sing its a similar format to singstar for the playstation with a few extra words of encouragement thrown in its not quite up to the singstar catalogue of songs to download, last time I checked this only had 20 but there is still enough songs on here to keep you and the girls entertained for the evening.
u sing has become a regular part of a saturday night in with the girls would recommend to all even my friends who don't normally like this kind of thing have felt the need to join in once they see how much fun us being had. The only downside is you can only play up to 2 players at time but apart from that its great, and anyway if you swap you get rest your voice a bit.
I also write reviews for other sites under the same name.
