Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Wii)

Advantages: Multiplayer/solo, not too expensive, keeps you fit
Disadvantages: Signal sensor poor design, board quite large hard to store
I had a baby in 2008 and I'm not the most motivated person out there as well as exercise Id been on every diet going and was still larger than I wanted to be. I brought the white wii console and board plus wii fit and sports game for £80 with £10 delivery as the size and weight of the board boosted the cost for the seller. I was hoping it was worth the money as the seller didn't do refunds. It was easy to set up and didn't have cables lying all over the place.
When you first use it you are asked to build a profile of yourself and enter a password to ensure your personal data is secure. I found the games a lot of fun and my daughter enjoys watching me play on one game in particular where you have to use the balance board to shift your weight from side to side to get the penguin to slide back and forth on the ice burg to eat as many fish as you can. That's just one of the many games that are on the wii fit, there is also yoga exercises, aerobic and balance games.
I started off with a BMI of 33 and its now 29, I have only used it twice-three times a week 40minutes each time along side walking three times a week for an hour and its reduced my weight considerably in a matter of months. With being a single parent I'm in almost every night so having the wii means I can play on it to pass the time and work towards beating my personal bests on the games while toning up and keeping fit. I love that I can do it at a time that's convenient for me and in the comfort of my own home. Being able to weigh yourself allows you to easily keep track of your progress and there's a little guidance tool in the form of a wii board that helps you set personal weight loss targets and gives you weight loss tips amongst other things. I enjoy doing the walking challenge while watching TV as you can have the Wii on the AV channel while you got a programme on and still do the exercise while watching your favourite film for example.
The great thing about the wii is that it can be multiplayer and the whole family can keep fit and spend quality time together without realising how beneficial it is towards your health/fitness as its so much fun. I am so glad I purchased this console it changed my life, with how fun the games are I didn't need a lot of motivation to go on it and seeing how much weight I lost I'm still a keen wii gamer.
In a standard wii package you get the wii console, a controller, a nun chuck, scar lead to attach the wii to the TV and controller signal sensor that goes on to the TV. You can get the wii in red, white or black. There are a range of games for the wii and some can be used with/without the balance board. They start from £100 upwards brand new but you can get some brilliant bargains second hand offline or in stores.
Easily set up so you can play it in a short period of time if your keen to try out your purchase and get fit ASAP. It comes with a variety of games to suit a range of peoples likes and dislikes no matter what age group. No need to keep a track of your weight loss as all the information is stored on your profile such as BMI, a weight loss chart showing your weight changes through out using it and since the last time you weighed yourself. No need to read the manual on using the wii fit game as there's a little wii board icon that guides you through each aspect and gives you tutorials on whatever you want. Built in weighing machine in the balance board so no need for home weighing scales. For me it has the advantage over other consoles as you are up on your feet and more a part of the game so it makes it a fun interactive experience for all that play. Easily stored on the TV unit as its smaller than a DVD player.
There's not many disadvantages to this console the only thing is the controller signal sensor is a bit tricky to attach to the TV as it has sticky pads on the bottom of it to attach to the top of the TV to track the signal to use the wireless feature of the controller and I've found it falls off a lot as my TVs quite thin. And its frustrating as its not something you can simply work over its required in order to play the games so I've had to cello tape it to the top as that's the only way to attach it. In my opinion its such a shame as this really is an amazing console, I've loved using it and its done wonders for my weight. The board is quite large(55cm long by 33cmwide) so it may have to be kept in a cupboard while not in use to ensure it doesn't get broken.
A fabulous console that's easy to set up and great fun for individuals, families or groups and there's some great deals on wii packages so for a one off payment you can have endless fun with people close to you while all keeping fit together!
Summary: Reasonably priced high quality console great addition to any household can play solo/multiplayer
