Advantages: Keeps you fit, is good value for money

Disadvantages: Can be heavy to move, games get repetitive eventually.

Here is my review on the WiiFit for Nintendo Wii.

The WiiFit has obviously been designed to specifically target the market of those who would like to shed a few pounds but either fail to find the time or fail to find the motivation which is understandable when the weather outside doesn't look too great or if you've had a rather rough day at work. The WiiFit encorporates exercise into challenging and fun games that all the family can play and has a leaderboard of scores for those who get competitive (seems to be the dads in my experience!) Players can unlock new games and challenges the longer they play, the time is recorded on a fit piggy.

When players first start the WiiFit they are weighed and their height is taken to calculate their BMI index (note this isn't a 100% accurate way of measuring how healthy someone is). Once this has been done they are given their BMI score before being asked what their target for weight loss is and over how long a period you want to try and lose the weight. One thing I found helpful was that it shows you where the BMI index would finish up if you did lose that weight.

For those who want to take things a bit more seriously there are also a series of yoga poses with differing degrees of difficulty, starting fairly gentle before progressing to something a bit more challenging. The purpose of these exercises is to improve muscle strength and improve your balance (this subsequently improves your posture as well!) as with the games the longer you spend doing these the more things you can unlock.

Overall I find the variety of games to be quite diverse and they are all rather short which means you don't get too bored whilst doing them (or whilst waiting for your turn!), but I do sometimes wonder if there could be more games made for it as after a while they can get a bit repetitive.

One thing worth noting is that the WiiFit can be quite heavy (around 9lbs) so do be careful!

In terms of price the WiiFit is generally available for around £59.99 from Amazon and Play.com and this is for the WiiFit balance board and the WiiFit game. If you do not have a Nintendo Wii and would like one with the WiiFit it is possible to get a good combo bundle that has both (you will end up getting the WiiFit for about £40 rather than £60). Which is a good offer, for £60 I would say the Wiifit is worth it as it provides a good mix of fun and challenge to what it offers and provided it is used regularly you should see some improvement in your overall health.

Summary: Well worth a go and will take up 30 - 40 minutes of your days exercise without you really even noticing it!

Summary: Deffinately worth getting if you have a Wii
