Wii Play: Motion Plus Wii Remote (Wii)
Advantages: Much improvement from the Wii Play, comes with remote, multiplayer excellent
Disadvantages: Wii Motion can be oversensitive
The Wii Play Motion has been an added extra from the Wii Play game before, making use of the newly developed Wii Motion Plus to make gaming even more sleek and easier. I was given this for Christmas with the new Wii remote that has the Wii Motion Plus built into it, and I think it was around £30. I am not sure if you can buy the game separately as on the front cover the game states Not To Be Sold Separately.
This game is rated for seven year olds surprisingly, even though it is a Wii series game. I thought that most of the games in this were usually designed for three and up but apparently not. They state that there is some violence contained in it, but I have not noticed any, and this rating is probably due to the fact that you have to shoot targets at some points within the game and hit moles on the head with mallets. This game is designed for the Wii Motion Plus, and although you can play with up to 4 people, you will have to make sure that each of you has a Wii remote with the accessory attached to it or with it included in it.
The graphics are similar to any within the Wii game series, focusing around the Mii's you create as the main characters with cheery simply designed backgrounds and games. The graphics don't focus on small details, but are created almost just like big shapes placed together, brightly coloured. However simple though, they are effective and make for a great gaming experience and stick with the Wii series of games.
Although the Wii Motion Plus has been added into this game, it doesn't stop the game from having some difficult control issues. Throughout some of the minigames they can be difficult, and the fact it has become oversensitive makes it much more difficult, as any slight movement will send the Wii remote in that direction (great for some games, not great for others!).
The minigames are certainly an improvement on the Wii play, having been updated and improved with new games. Some of the best ones are the most simple to, surprisingly. My personal favourites are the Trigger Twist shooting range game where you try and shoot as many targets as possible while travelling through the various environments, the whack a mole game which is self explanatory and the Cone Zone where you must balance various scoops of ice cream to make a giant ice cream cone.
There is a wide range of games available and there is many that will suit whatever type of gamer is within your family. For those who like peaceful Zen gaming, there is the option of Skipping Stones or the Cone Zone which requires little thinking and is quite easy. Then for those who like action, there is the Trigger Twist and Spooky Search. However, there are many games in between the ones that are really great, that are just quite dull and have awkward controls to play them well.
Multiplayer's is great on this game to as most games require you to work as a team. This was really useful within my household, as games can sometimes get a bit too competitive! Your scores are then recorded, and you can keep replaying the minigames over and over trying to beat your high scores or others.
In conclusion, this is a good game to have in your collection when you just feel like short casual minigames. The fact you can play by yourself and with other friends is a great bonus, and makes for a great game that you can pull out at parties or if you are just sitting at home and want something to play. With a wide variety of games, there is always something to suit someone's gaming style and mood.
Summary: A great Wii series game with improved minigames and remote, to play alone or with friends
