Wii Sports comes free with the Wii console and is a highly recommended accompaniment to help new players learn how to handle and control the Wii-mote. It is a combination of 5 sports games - tennis, bowling, golf, baseball and boxing. Each game is playable for up to 4 players making it a game that the whole family can play, or a group of friends (which makes for a very cheap night in!)

What makes this a great game for Wii beginners is that the sports are played by imitating the movements in real life. This includes the nunchuck (not numchuck!) controller for the boxing which connects to the Wii-mote. - I can't get used to the boxing I always lose! Each game also has various training modes which can also be played multiplayer, and are intended to develop your skills.

An additional feature of Wii Sports is the Wii fit. Not to be confused with the later released game, this feature is a combination of three random training tests (could be 4 don't quote me on this), but you complete the tests and at the end you are given a fitness age based on your balance speed and stamina. As with any game there are ways to cheat and ways of playing that improve your score but with a game like this it's much more fun - and accurate - to play properly!

Other features worth mentioning:
Your character is your WiiMii and for those who are easily amused if you throw your bowling ball behind you (let go of the B button too soon), the other Miis on your team and playing around you jump up, spin round, and cheer. Me and my best friend found this highly amusing and really is quite funny if you have a lot of Miis on your Wii that are of people you know or celebrities.

It's also quite interesting to play tennis doubles with yourself as your other team mate seeing as when you play alone, the computer player you are paired with is usually really really rubbish!

Summary: Good game for everyone to play
