Zumba is a fitness game that uses a mixture of latin music, dance and aerobics to get you up and moving and exersising. Zumba claims that with exstensive use and training of the game you can not only lose weight but also tone up (though a healthy lifestyle is also required).
I decided to buy Zumba because all of my girlfriends were either playing the game or going to Zumba classes at our local gym, I figured playing the game in the comfort and safety of my own house would mean alot less humiliation than going to the gym to learn as I am not well co-ordinated so I bought the game for £22.99 in Game, which isnt a bad price considering the 'Just Dance' game is closer to £30 and also going to learn in my gym would have costed £5 per week.
Well first things first, as soon as I switched the Wii and click on the game in the Wii Menu the funky latin music starts getting you pumped up and ready for a workout.
You then have the choice to either create a charactor profile (which will kepp progress of your workout scores and levels) or choose your exsisting profile if you have already played the game before. The user interface on this game is really easy to use and creating a charactor profile does not take a long time.
After this you have the choice of either learning new steps or dancing a full session. When learning the new steps you pic which step you would like to learn, then you simply mimick the lady dancing on the screen, if you are doing it right the lady turns green and if not she remains red. You start off learning the new step slowly, then speed is increased when you start to get it right (beleive me practice makes perfect).
Once you have learnt the steps you are then ready for a full session. There are 3 different levels of sessions including Beginner, Intermediate and Expert, this is good as everyone can play at their own pace and beginners wont feel out of their depth and experts wont get bored easily. To play you firstly put on your Zumba Belt (which comes free with the game) and then you choose the mode that you want to play, then you slip the Wii Remote into your belt and copy every dance move you see. You earn extra points by copying the dancers correctly and filling energy bars at the bottom of the screen.
All in all I think that this game is great fun and also I am really starting to see a difference in my body since I started playing it regularly (i use it 3 times a week). It is really easy to use and is a great way to stay fit and pick up afew dance steps.
